Cookery programmes

Do you watch them? Fortunately my wife does the cooking in this household so I tend to give them a swerve unless I'm a captive in the room.

Cookery programmes have to be the cheapest to make and therefore most prolific reality programmes on the box at the moment. I notice the chefs are becoming right fricking luvvies too these days. Move over rock and football stars, chef stars is the way forward.

Suggestions for more programmes please, remember the budget is small though.

It's an alright format if its just a chef doing their specials even if they are only flogging a book. I can't stand the cookery shows where there is a phoney competitive/ voting aspect to it. The latest in this is the Carol Vorderman vehicle to find Britain's Best Dish, it will be the usual rubbish of opinion and voting and stressful head to heads or " Cook offs" to feed the local Art College or WI lunch club under a phoney deadline.
Add to that the usual sultry voiced narrator repeating what the contestants have just been told by the Enforcing senior expert and the even more ridiculous and the winner tonight is..................................... ...........................yawn.................... Betty with her Lobster !

Saturday Kitchen is about the only one that I gaze at if I can be bothered. The irrepressible Ollie Smith (wine expert) is a resident of Lewes and is often seen having a Harvey's or three in town,

Not a cookery programme as such (more of a food programme) but Man vs Food is one of my favourite shows on TV. They don't make it now but, fortunately, it is shown on Dave. A lot.

Anything with Nigel Slater is brilliant. The guy is a genius

I quite like his books/recipes, but watching him on the telly makes me want to stick my foot through it. There's something about his presenting style that makes my blood boil (and I'm generally speaking very easy going).

UNWATCHABLE

You are of course entitled to your opinion, but I am NEVER going to agree with you.

Sometimes watch Saturday kitchen but don't like the host as he made my friend cry with his bullying ways. Worst chef on TV, why it's on the most badly presented TV show in history, Sunday Brunch. The scouse baldy and the incompetent Lovejoy are both are a pair of cants.

I quite like the baldy one who used to flog fruit, he seems a friendly chat. And let's face it how qualified do yo have to be to knock up a bit of supper for some crusty old food critics? Not much.

I was drawn into Great British Bake Off last series and really enjoyed it despite having the cooking skills of my username.

I like that Jewish woman with the huge norks and suggestive finger licking. Nigella lawson, daughter of the ex chancellor.

My wife thinks I am bonkers but there is something primeaval about her

May be the only man in history to admit this but 'come dine with me' is one of my favourite shows. Generally on when I do dinner (I do all the cooking in house) and having it on in the background provides a few laughs!

I am surprised no one has mentioned Keith Floyd yet. Good cooking, and such a larf watching him slurping away.
