Not pointless at all. It shows that England has voted for a Tory Government with a huge majority, but has been held back by the three celtic countries.
We don't vote as England though do we, we vote as the UK.
It is more instructive if you change to the alternative view. Then all the constituencies are the same size.
It really does back up how reliant Labour are on Scotland and Wales. Under the current electoral system they would be in big trouble if Scotland got independence.
So true. And Labour ensure that we were not given that option when they gave it to their heartlands in Scotland and Wales.
Irrespective of the terms of the devolved government referendum in Scotland in 1997, a referendum for an independent Scotland at that time would almost certainly have failed, and only strengthened the Union.
The perverse thing you're saying is that the very policy at the heart of Conservative doctrine is the one you're advocating destroying to ensure a near-permanent Conservative majority.
You can't have it both ways.
My friend, we are now in a time of great compromise. If that includes a relaxation of views on the union, then maybe that would be a good idea, and benefit the english for a change?
If you want to go firm and hard

You see, it's the northerners I tell ya. Should all be shoved back down the pits !!!
Thatcher had them closed.
