Seems like Hollyshite has finally got bored of rehashing quality old films and turning them crap! Now they've turned to Games to make their billions.

First up was Lara Croft then DOOM the Movie, thats gonna be out next year I think, then theres THIS:

sauce: BBC News

Oscar-winning film director Peter Jackson and his team will produce the forthcoming film based on popular video game Halo.

The director, who is reported to be an avid fan of Halo, will use his Weta production facilities in Wellington, New Zealand where the film will also be shot.

Alex Garland, author of popular novel The Beach, has written the script.

A director and cast are expected to be named in coming weeks.

I'm still waiting for Robin Williams in Repton, Ed Norton in Elite and finally Ant & Dec in Rainbow Islands

Gonna have to wait till 2007 for the Halo movie. It's my favorite computer game so they better not f*** it up. With Jackson at the helm it ought to be in safe hands.

The question is, can you think of a film based on a video game that isn't crap?
Resident Evil (1&2) - dreadful!
Lara Croft (1&2) - stunk!
Mario Bros - cockney italian plumbers? yuk!
:nono:

And while your at it can you think of a video game based on a film that was any other than average?

???

Agree that usually making a movie from a video game results in a pile of toss, but I'm hoping this one will be different.
Microsoft have paid Alex Garland $1m to write the script so you'd hope he does a good job.

Still waiting for Manic Miner meets Jet Set Willy to be made, although it may be available on a top shelf somewhere

Such a niche in the market for some good films. But alas hollywood are happy doing remakes and general trash. Cant think of the last good film I saw at the cinema.

but you are barreloffun, and presumably difficult to please. did you not enjoy Peter Jackson's epic trilogy? I certainly did
