Yes another computer advice thread...

So i have installed a new hard drive in my PC after the last one frazzled last week and i can now not get into my 'paypal' account website. All i get is the 'This page cannot be displayed' page.

Any idea why this is happening - it wasn't when using the last hard drive. Some sort of security issue?

HELP!

Cheers

PS Note to all NSC users. Make sure you BACK UP anything you hold precious (300 once in a lifetime Barbados honeymoon snaps for example!!) or like me you can lose the f**king lot in a second...

I bought an external HDD and try to backup every couple of weeks, and now I use Google Mail for my mail & contacts so I'll never lose it.

As for the paypal issue, when do you get the page is not displayed message? When you logon, it will try and connect securely via Https instead of Http, maybe your security settings down allow it.

Yep, new HDD implies a full software rebuild so its a cookie problem in all likely hood. What you might not know is that XP SP2 limits you when enabling cookies so you might be better off downloading Firefox.

Also, check your firewall, you may need to shut that off to log on to Paypal.

Have you tried taking your old drive drive to PC World or some other computer shop as they are often able to recover data from damaged drives?
