Around that time Ward got three in a 3 . 1 win at Molinoux. The radio gave the score as a Wolves winning 3 . 1 and sportsnight gave it as an Albion win.

Nobody because we didn't play Wolves in November 1981. In 1981/82 season we beat them 1 - 0 at The Molyneaux on Sept 22nd Ritchie scored and 2 - 0 at home on 4th May Robinson and Sammy Nelson scored.

I think that took us to our highest EVER league position of FIFTH in the top flight.

It was EVIL after that match, evening kick off and Wolves lying in wait for us en route to the station, with the old 'Got the time mate' routine in their fetid Black Country accents, before administering a kicking.

I was there. Derelict ground. Pitch like an ice rink a few days before Xmas. wardy kept skating past Emlyn Hughes, running through and scoring. Magic memory. We were just starting to find our feet in Div 1 then - followed it up with Palace(h) 3-0 and Man City(h) 4-1.
