Listen, Bushy, your claims about why Powell has chosen to support Obama are complete nonsense. Indeed, they are an insult to a man who is clearly an intelligent and thoughtful politician. really? how do independnets or undecides register then? i expect the massive increse in registration is due to many poor black communities turning on to wanting to vote this time, believing their vote might actuall matter and mean somthing. ive not heard there was any dodgy implecations, though of course there might be. i did hear that in certain areas repossesions are being used to put people on the street so that they dont qualify for voting, seems nothing is too low in the land of free to swing an election.

What's the difference between that and say Southall, Brixton, Hounslow and Harlesdon ? Two predominately Asian areas and two predominantly Afro Carribean areas. What about Whitechapel ? That's mainly Bangladeshi. It's just where people of a similar race choose to live close to each other. In the US all ghettos are multiracial these days although the make up depends on whereabouts in the US they are. Not that many Italians in Georgia for instance.

Racism in the US is starting to die out now.

I believe there are still independents running for President, State, Senate and local elections, so they can register there as well.

Of course you don't have to vote for the party you have registered with!

WE have the biggest Jewish population outside Israel, the biggest Turkish/Kurdishi n the UK, the biggest Vietanese population, in the top 5 african populations in the UK.PLus Poles, Russians, Spanish etc

The area is entirely mix. An equivalent Downtown Washington, Detroit you will just africans, or just latin americans? You will not find such a multi- national area.

I first sighted her, cleaning the revolving doors, i nearly lost my whole leg! I had to go around twice to believe my eyes.

I take you've lived in the US ? Well I have and I can assure you that the 'ghettos' you speak 'so knowledgeably' about are multi racial apart from areas such as Mississippi that has very few Hispanics. Racism in America does exist but it's vastly different to what it was even twenty years ago. Hackney is not a good example as they also have a reasonable number of South Americans living there as well, I used to go out with a Brazilian from there. Having worked in Whitechapel earlier this year I can also say that vast majority there are Bangaladeshi but then I would hardly call it a ghetto.

You may be right on the US.

Hackney is not unique, Newham, Brent both with the highest concentration of diversity possess an equally balanced population.

Whitechaple per se is relatively small area, intermixed with some of the world's wealthiest citizens as well as a range of other populations.

There is no where in London off the beaten I would fear to tread but is that the same with downtown Washington, Detroit and similar cities?
