so thats 10 years naming rights for "up to 2m" (I guess if they get back into the championship it goes up) PLUS they sponsor the shirts for the next year. Sounds like a crap deal to me. Plus think of the fans, 3 new kits this year (if they dont already sponsor the shirts) and 3 the following year when they change sponsor

Colchester's new ground is a small, boring stadium that looks quite old fashioned. Doubt there'll be many other events held their either.

Our new ground is a larger, way better looking stadium, that is actually likely to hold quite a few conferences / whatever the max allowed number of concerts / etc is. This should lead to someone being more interested in naming it.

2 million for 10 years is peanuts
I believe that Brighton will get a much bigger and better sponsor deal than Colchester.

I drove past Colchesters ground again today and it looks ok. Better than those plastic identi-kit grounds like Derby and Leicester.

I went past Shrewsburys the other week and as well as not even knowing they had moved, I thought it looked very odd.

Commercial wise brighton will have a bad deal when it will get lesser than Colchester.
The potential here is much greater also the fanbase

and in English?

Commercieel wijs Brighton zal een slechte overeenkomst hebben wanneer het minste dan Colchester zal krijgen. Het potentieel is hier veel groter ook fanbase

still doesn't make sense

Seems their money was in place by the time they were given the go ahead in June 2007 and building started within a month in July 2007 and will be completed by the beginning of this season.

Not meaning to be negative but we aren't starting for well over a year after getting permission and we still haven't got the funds in place from what I gather from the article on the other thread and we are still waiting for the tenders back.

Bloody Hell, Milton Keynes Dons didn't even exist in anyone's imagination when the Albion started down this road, now we're discussing whether the people who actually BUILT their stadium might like to TENDER for ours whilst other clubs are getting permission, planning, funding and building as we stumble along with one delay after the other.. f***ing depressing it is...

They also had the funding in place by the time they got permission to build. Way to go imo

Hardly our fault we've been homeless so long.

At what stage are we allowed to get restless about whether the club will get funding then? A year on we are still trying to fund it from what I gather. It's clear I'm no high flyer but I would have expected us to have SOMETHING in place by now given how long the club have had to work on it.

I would love you to be able to put my mind at rest that we're not going along on a wing and a prayer at the moment.
