Just checked that out myself and posted about it on Easy's thread.

Seem to rate him in general.

Don't forget he was our Player of the Season and had 100% record in penalties.
Just because he left us doesn't make him a bad player all of a sudden.

Never thought of him as a BAD player (although he did have some long spells of being decidedly less than average). He's just a liar who took us all for mugs. Thats all really.

I'd be saying for a long time they he wasn't very good. Had a habit of disappearing for a long time in games. Give me Thomson or Westlake anyday.

glad to see he is impressing.
We may be upset at the manner of his leaving but in football developing a higher income is even more important than for us poor mortals who have to live in the real world. Good luck to him

Exactly.

He is a good player and certainly capable of holding his own in a championship club.

Too many Brighton fans seem to take the line that anyone who leaves is rubbish and then take unhealthy pleasure in seeing them fail.

You might be right Richie, but in this case it was the way that he negotiated and the way he tried to spin his position after DK called his bluff. He didn't cover himself in glory and I think you can understand why fans would be rankled by his actions at a time when the club was unsettled and we needed our Captain to stand up for the team and be strong.

Absolutely. Spot. On.
I'm not going to rewrite history and say Hammond was SHIT just because of the manner he left us. He had his indifferent spells like most players, but he was a good player, and given the choice, I would still have him at the club.

But would I have him here at any cost ? f*** off. He was a valuable asset to the team, but he was a LONG way from indespensible. Colchester offered silly money, and we'd have been mugs not to have taken it, given his attitude.

Whats done is done. I don't blame him for leaving - if he wanted more money than what we were prepared to offer then fine, thats his prerogative. What makes Hammond a wanker is trying to take us fans for mugs with this "club needs to prove its ambition" bollocks. Don't insult my intelligence. You want to go, fine. But don't dress it up as anything else, cos we all know the score.
