I've always had doubts about "scarper" being Cockney Rhyming Slang. I think it derives from the Italian word, scappare, meaning "to run away".

15/15. Guessed correctly on the dodgy ones.

Love a bit of rhyming slang. My Dad used some at home with us (we always had to go "up the apples" at bedtime...) and I still enjoy the little spark of pleasure that comes from a bit of colour and the shared moment of understanding. My current favourites include most people passed away being described as "brown" and hairstyle changes being noted with a reference to someone's "Barnet" ...

At my old cricket club we amused each other endlessly with our made-up rhyming slang. Cakes and bread at tea-time were either nice and "Ally" or a bit "Stephen" - and a popular tipple at the bar was a pint of "Nelson".
