Coca-Cola, title sponsors of The Football League, today launched a '£1 Million Goal Chase' challenging the 72 League Clubs, which make up The Football League, to score a record number of goals in any one season.
In its 30 year history of supporting football in this country, Coca-Cola has always been active at the grassroots of the game, recognising the importance of giving new talent the opportunity to shine. Clearly, fans want to watch exciting football. The Coca-Cola £1M Goal Chase brings these two ideas together in an innovative way to add a bit of extra excitement to the football season.
Coke is asking fans to encourage their club to raise their game this season to score a total of 4500 or more goals. If they are successful, Coca-Cola will donate a £1 Million prize to fund a young, up and coming or apprentice player at each of the 72 clubs for a full season.
I think this is a good idea, but on average, every club would have to score 62.5 goals which seems a bit improbable.
