The German clubs get a lot of the little things right. Watching Schalke vs Hannover last weekend in a 5-4 thriller, I noticed how the announcer shouted out the name of the goal scorer AND the bloke who made the assist. Genius! Two songs for the price of one, the players are happy, everyone's a winner. I'd like to see the Albion announcer do this at the Amex.

I just use the old fashioned method and look with my eyes.

Do we still have bands in Dicks bar after the game?

This being the key to the whole thing..... why other clubs aren't doing the same is beyond me!!!

It's a funny one.

Paul Barber on the Roar: Very few clubs offer an interest-free loan with no security. [What we're doing] is a phenomenal thing in this day and age for any business to offer.

(My italics)

When you look at it that way, there is a big risk (maybe for some clubs too big a risk - who knows?) of it not working for them. We know it works, but I can see the concern for some clubs of it being a big leap of faith in your fans' considerations.

That's bollocks though, isn't it?

We pay so far in advance that the club has a fair few months to resolve any individual non-payers, before barring them/their card and re-selling the seat.

Don't get me wrong - it's a fantastic scheme, and undoubtedly a huge contributing factor in our great attendances, but there's very limited risk to the club. If anyone uses a seat they've not paid for, it will only be due to administrative incompetence at the club.

Correct me if I am wrong but don't we pay a month in advance? In which case, there is no loan.

They are excellent transport links - just not if 27,000 people expect to be able to use them at the same time with no queueing.

I agree.

I can think of loads of places that are murder to get away from...West Ham, anyone? Leeds, would you?

Take away the direct debit scheme & I suspect our attendances would half (or close to it) But I'm sure the club know that.

"On a cold and wet Saturday afternoon at Brighton & Hove Albion, 27,000 dedicated fans turn up to pack out the Amex Stadium."

"Where were you when we were shit?"

Good point lets go back down to 6.5k supporters the other 20k are just time wasters.

Where does it say they are taking all the credit?

There are lots of reasons, some down to the clubs management and some down to the supporters. The fact that we don't have other clubs on our doorstep is a big plus. Playing half decent football helps as does interest free direct debits and a great stadium, all directly down to the club but you make it sound as though they are claiming credit for something that was not of their doing?

I don't think 'clubs on doorstep' makes a lot of difference...I would'nt care if anyteam was just up the road....my loyalty is to BAHA......end of!

I'd agree with that. I live a thousand miles away in the arse end of nowhere but I still have a season ticket. But if there were other clubs close by we wouldn't have the support we do. Good fans like you and me would still be loyal, but not everybody would.

Trust me. They are not dedicated fans. They will run faster to their caves, than they do to catch the train on the 87th minuet train. Should relegation occur. Many are glory hunters nothing more. Some may turn into fans given time. Most will just stay till the sun goes in.

Excellent transport links.

:wozza:
Actually they're not bad at all. At one time there was a completely hare-brained scheme to build the new ground at Shoreham Cement works; that's served by a country lane, one regular bus an hour and a disused railway. If that had gone ahead there would still be people up there waiting to get back from the Doncaster game.
