Classy Poyet on Sky Sports News - pledged future to Albion

On SSN this evening, Gus made it crystal clear it won't take West Ham job if offered, won't apply for any job whilst contracted to the Albion, and is very happy with us for his future.

So great news.

Not only that, after the heated opinions on NSC regarding Murray, Gus was chilled; clearly unperturbed by the regular football business of player movements and pay-stand-offs.
He has an advantage over us, of knowing their big new playing staff budget and moves being made.

Worthing
Brighton manager Gus Poyet has ruled himself out of the West Ham job as club co-owner David Sullivan vows to get the right man to resurrect the Upton Park club.

The Hammers have vowed to have their new boss appointed by the end of the month as they look to bounce back from the npower Championship at the first attempt.

The Irons' finally wielded the axe on Avram Grant - only appointed during the summer - after relegation from the Barclays Premier League was confirmed on Sunday after they squandered a 2-0 lead at fellow strugglers Wigan to lose 3-2.

Former England manager Steve McClaren has already ruled himself out of the running, with Martin O'Neill reported to be head of the wanted list again, the board having offered the Northern Irishman the job during January only to be turned down.

Poyet had been linked with the vacancy after steering the Seagulls to the League One title but has ruled himself out of the running.

The 43-year-old Uruguayan told Sky Sports News: "No chance. I can promise I will never apply for a job during my time at another club, especially at a club like Brighton where I'm so happy to be.

"It would be really silly on my part to apply for any other job. I promise you at the moment there is nothing, just rumours.

He's got all he could possibly want for a young manager starting out. He has his hands on all the key levers of a promising upwardly mobile football club. He calls calls all the shots when it comes to the football side of the club. He has been given serious input into a 15m accademy, he has designed the scouting network, got Stevenson in, input into the Amex. He will get this from NO other club at the moment. He has a chairman that understands the importance of letting the manager manage, and will back him when requested.

If in 2/3 years time he got us in the Premiership and did well, then he would be tempted and could leave. He would have a completely different relationship with Abramovich though, and I think his footballing integrity would run against some of the chairmen in the premiership.

I agree, I will never apply, inviting and approach? If he really wasn't interested he would say no chance of me applying or going if asked. Usual football double speak, first good offer he is gone, you heard it here first!

Irrespective of what Murray does, Gus is staying. That's what matters.

No.
Gus was clear that he wouldn't apply, would'nt listen to their approach & was very happy with being down here and his Brighton project.

With full input on footballing aspects of the Amex, and the Academy coming soon, he couldn't be happier.

Like Wenger with Project Emirates, but hopefully without the foolish stubborness on goalies & central defenders!!!

He's still so young, he knows he's got plenty of time to manage in the top flights of Europe.

Eeeess complicated. I'm not worried about Gus going to WHU but I am a little concerned about the careful wording of "I'll never "apply" for another job"

I saw the interview but I couldn't work out where he was
Looked like it could be at Chelsea - certainly the letter "C" appeared on the seats behind him - have Chelsea got "Chelsea"written across their seats ? Could have been Cardiff I suppose as the players behind him were wearing blue training tops. Surely our lads have been released to spend a couple of weeks on the beach

Anyone know why the interview was at Stamford Bridge. Is Gus scouting some youngsters to take on season long loans, or jumping on the next Bridcutt the moment Chelsea announce their retained / release list?

Only a whopper will tempt him away. I learnt these things today.
