Got away with what? Contrary to what you may have heard there were no characters called Roger the Cabin Boy (he was called Tom), Master Bates, (it was Master Mate) and Seaman Staines (there wasn't even a character called 'Seaman'). I think the bloke who created it has won libel damages in the past.

I remember when I was a little boy watching an afternoon cartoon called "Joe". It was about a little boy who's mum & dad ran a transport cafe and the adventures he had playing around the cafe and lorries etc. I think he used to have a pet cat as well. Sounds crap I know but it was my favourite when I used to watch it on the old black & white tv. I've never found anyone yet who remembers it and it would make my day if any of the older NSCs on here recall watching it as well.
As for the poll, of those mentioned Mr Benn was great.

Just voted for Mr Benn, although Magic Roundabout was as good

Wasn't it on just before the six o'clock news every day

He had "Master Mate & Pirate Willy" as I recall.

As I can't see a joke in there, I'll bite - Gerry Anderson.

Yep spot on. Multiple choice question on christmas day was "who wrote thunderbirds?" There were 4 possible answers all of them were "Andersons". One was the correct answer of "Gerry" as you have already stated, then there were 2 others that I vcant recall & then there was good old Clive. Which one did Moggy go for????? Yep, you guessed it. According to the book of Moggy Clive penned "Thunderbirds" during rehersals for "clive Anderson Talks Back"!!!!!! :lolol: :lolol: :jester: :jester:

Of those I would choose The Clangers what with the blue-string pudding and the soup dragon. But when I was small(yes we had T.V. in those days, even if it was in glorious monochrome) my favourite was The Woodentops, especially Spotty Dog!

Mr Benn, but I was a huge fan of Bod too. Loved the theme tune :)

Big fan of Bod eh. so that is who you have modelled your hairstyle on :lolol:
Went for Chorlton myself but only because the Flumps were missed off. Tish Mr Morgan how could you :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

Can also back chez up in what moggy said Christmas day. He also got cheesed off as we played Who wants to be a millionaire and Mog was the first question master. Unbeknown to him both myself and Chez are ( unlike Moggy now ) both quite intelligent and both won a million before he even got to answer a question :lolol:
