As far as I'm concerned there are a small number of posters on this thread who have a shocking lack of respect and perspective. Any true BHAFC fan knows DK is a legend and there is nothing he can possibly do to tarnish his reputation. The man is a hero. It is one thing putting up £125m when you have billions in the bank, but it is quite another putting your entire life and a far greater proportion of your wealth into a football club when nobody else wants to know. I am stunned to read so many people whining about DK going to lengths to promote his book. Have you not realised how releasing a book works? It is generally a good idea to let people know it is available. It is also a good idea to reveal one or two snippets of information that whet the appetite of your potential audience and grab some headlines. Just look at Sir Alex only a few weeks ago, or Sven the other day. DK is not as well known as them, so using every marketing trick in the book is a shrewd move. He has played a blinder today and his book will do well. His is a fascinating story and it will be a hit not only in Sussex. I read Simon Jordan's autobiography on holiday in the summer and it was brilliant (despite my obvious loathing of his club), and I consider DK's story to be comparable in terms of appeal and readership but actually more interesting and amusing than his.

One other thing, to all those who make sarcastic comments about DK milking the money out of this book, may I just ask why on earth that is a problem? I'm sure he does want to sell lots of copies and make plenty of money, that is generally the point of writing a book. But more importantly than that, after he paid out several million pounds to keep BHAFC going over the years, I think a good return on his book is the least he deserves. Even if the book was rubbish (which I am convinced it won't be), I'd more than happily hand over £15 to buy it anyway as a token of my appreciation. It's a pretty small price to pay to recognise the achievements of a man without whom thousands of us wouldn't be going to football every Saturday afternoon.

Amen to that...! Everything else said on this matter is now null and void.

Well expressed sentiments - totally in agreement.

Just because DK is a legend (and I agree he is) I really don't understand why this means there is nothing he can do to tarnish his reputation. He's just gone and done it and it's all rather sad and tawdry.

Would he still have the same people acting for him or have they moved on since the rise of TB.

Would you still be bitter and twisted about the money you lost because because HE delivered the Albion from the clutches of Archer and Stanley whilst Archer laughed your "consortiums"pipe dream for a mamouth leisure complex at the Beeding cement works out of his office?

Tell us AGAIN. How much did you reckon you would have made in interest payments whilst the funds for that fantasy "Boarded"in your account.

AND YOU STILL HOLD A GRUDGE ABOUT IT.

That is where you are wrong I hold no grudge whatsoever against DK and what I said at the time has proved to be correct. He didnt have the money to buy and maintain a football league club but credit where it is due he tried and without his efforts there wouldnt be a BHAFC.

Are you really saying a publicity stunt about selling shares (which he may or may not be able to do, and frankly it doesn't really matter either way) somehow diminishes the credit he's built up in saving the club, removing Archer, bringing us back to Brighton, keeping us in business in the most extraordinary circumstances any professional football club will ever find itself in, putting millions of pounds of his own money in with no chance of a return (and to think I whinge about whether my season ticket costs me £500 or £600!), funding three planning campaigns, winning permission for a controversial development on a greenfield site and topping it off with moving aside for a billionaire benefactor at the perfect time? If you are, that is absolutely mental.

DK could lay a great big turd in the centre circle at The Amex while kissing a Palace scarf and he'd still be fine by me. I'm certainly not going to get upset about whether he sells a few shares that make no difference to anyone.

Some of our fan base f'ing well defies belief. Whatever anybody thinks of his over-inflated, self-recognised ego, the man is, and will always be a full-on legend.

END.

Oh dear, you just can't help yourself can you? Let me correct this for you, He did have the money to run a football league club, he didn't have the money to build a 30,000 seat stadium. But then nobody did, and no one person was ever meant to. Things moved on.

Every single word of your post spits vitriol and bitterness.

Dick TIGHT (HISS!) should of give all the money to Dean WILKINS (He may not be Father Christmas but he come come down my chimney whenever he wants, may have to clear some soot out of it first though) for the TRUAMA of sacking him when he took us to the highest finishing position of 2007/8 of ANY manger who manged us that season, and you CAN,T get bettered than that.

With the help of a number of very wealthy fans like TB amongst many but we have moved on so lets drop it. I still dont think that if I applied he would sell any to me, but then I dont think that many will go to ordinary fans either way.

Is that the Uncle who was on the board when we were sold down the river by Archer, Bellotti and Stanley?
Unless you know what your talking about (which you clearly don't) better not to make yourself appear like the font of all knowledge with regard to the deviousness of Archer and his cronies. Harry Bloom was nothing to do with that scenario and was as distraught as we all were at its outcome....and I do know firsthand what I'm talking about.

Until a club does well in the premiership under this plan, I can't see any club chosing this as a path.

We wouldn't have a stadium right now if the club was owned by thousands of penniless fans.
I don't care that it's owned by one person!!!! But by the way the bloom family has been involved for a long time, so I'd rather them than some dodgy foreign owner!!!

Questions put forward followed by Paul Barber's answers:

1) Does the shareholders agreement of the company say that Dick Knight must first offer his shares for sale to existing shareholders first?

Yes. Under the club’s articles of association, shareholders must notify the club of any intention to sell their shares and then allow the club 28 days in which to respond.

The answer does not answer the question asked.

I doubt the answer given comes anywhere near what a direct quote from the Articles of Association would define. Typically there would be many detailed ifs and buts to cover and control a wide range of possibilities.

The point for me is that because one person owns it now means that it could be owned at some point in the future by 'some dodgy foreign owner', as you eloquently put it.
