City Break

John Dorian

Glass Case of EMOTION
One of my colleagues wants to take his other half on a quick city break at the start of November for her birthday and wants to know the best city to go to. He has got a budget of £500 for flights and hotel but Rome seems a touch to expensive, plus from my experiences the hotels for that kind of price are usually miles out of the city centre and take ages to get to. Has anyone got a gem that they can recommend for around that price ? I was thinking probably Budapest ? :afro:

Amsterdam isn't as sleazy as it once was and has some wicked art galleries and ting. If it's sunny it's one of the nicest cities there is.

I want to go to Berlin for my birthday next year. There's loads of clubs that just don't shut at the weekend on the waterfront.

Flights aren't too bad if you book them nice and early either. About 50 schnuffs return.

It's a cracking place. restaurants, scenery, history, bars, clubs, amazing people. It's the cats pyjamas.

Went to the christmas market in November last year in Hamburg - nice place. Plenty of food and beer and shops to keep the missis happy.

Cologne is a lovely city also-most of the major cities in Germany have superb Christmas markets with beer, currywurst and shopping (for the lady):clap2:

Cologne is lovely, plus it now only takes about 4 1/2 hours to get there by train from St P (amazingly for those of us who as a kid used to get there in a gruelling overnight 12 hour train journey via Dover Western Docks, Ostend etc). As with anywhere else in Germany, check out the football too - it's still ridiculously cheap to get in, the strength of the Euro notwithstanding.
