Anyone watch this last night?? Seems like a bit of a marmite programme, people either loved it or hated it and it seems to have caused uproar in the muslim community...

Muslim Comedy causes uproar amongst Muslims

I saw the advert and thought it looked really funny, but would appreciate the feedback of anyone who saw it?

???

It is the Asian sit-com variant of "Til Death Do Us Part".

I wonder how many of those that did complain were Muslims, or were they just people that felt insulted for Muslims.

Reminds me of Stephen Fry's quote on being offended:
'It's now very common to hear people say, "I'm rather offended by that", as if that gives them certain rights. It's no more than a whine. It has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. "I'm offended by that." Well, so f***ing what?'

Thought it was a bit of an Asian version of a 70s comedy - Terry and June etc. alright for them to crack several "ginger" jokes ..... Doubt it will get second series - so with those words it will probably go on for years!

In fact it was such rubbish the bbc put it on at a relatively late time for a sitcom and for two nights in a row( so to end the series as quickly as possible)

Best comedies at the moment seem to be American.

I really liked it, light humour and very little to offend anybody. As mentioned a few jokes but quite light hearted

Rubbish.

I hope any future episodes are subject to the telly-ban.

I lasted for about 5 minutes whilst channel hopping. The final straw was the appearance of Kris Marshall as the Mosque manager. I am sure that he is a lovely guy and does a lot of work for charity but seeing him brought on disturbing flashbacks of the ads he did for BT so I switched off.

From what I saw it is more likely to be offensive to those who like good comedy or was trying to bung is as many stereotypes (or at least other peoples perception of stereotypes) as "Mrs Brown's Boys". Looking at this positively at least someone was brave enough to produce it.

I have a Muslim friend who got an audiobook of the Koran on CD. I'm not sure why, but he got really offended when I asked him to burn it for me.
