Don't shoot the messenger.
But seeing as it has been very quiet on the rumour front, I have seen us linked with a move permanently for Chuba Akpom. What does everyone else think?
I think it would be a decent signing.
He's 21 in October and I think due to step up and have a decent season at our level.

Big risk signing a player who has only scored 7 (seven) goals in his career. From 67 games.

Exactly! looks a little lightweight too for the championship but having said that he is only 20 and with a little beefing up he will be a real asset to us in the Prem when we get there.

Has pace which we need.
Hope it's more than an idle rumour.
Would be a loan as no chance Arsenal will let him go and even if they did he would cost north of £10m in the current market

There's a lot of parallels between Chuba and Benik Afobe. Both products of the Arsenal academy, both can play up front or anywhere in the three behind. Both have similar records at England youth level and maybe more reassuringly Chuba's minute to goal ratio last season is comparable to Afobes when he was at the same age and was on loan at a just relegated Bolton. Signing wouldn't be one for now, more one for the potential of what he may become in longterm and with support of Hughton and training that can be offered here, you'll hope it will get the best out of him.

We've also been linked with a loan move for highly rated 20 year old full back Ashley Smith-Brown from Man City.
Apparently Barcelona were after him a few years ago.

How about if you take out 3 goals against Bury? 4 goals in 66 games. Not sure you can sign a player who played 35 times for a promoted Championship team as one for the future. Depends on the kid's attitude I suppose.

Interesting comparison. Thanks for that.

This is an interesting one. Clear potential but I'm not sure he's the right man to carry us to the premier league next season. Would be disappointed if Brighton only add Akpom and don't spend on another striker. He's far from the finished article.
