Well I hate it with good reason, what would you say that makes me (apart from somebody who sees it as cynical exercise in greed, excess and false bonhomie) ?

Well I don't know what has scarred you bha, but as far as I'm concerned, the only person who can justifiably hate christmas is the girl in Gremlins (played by Phoebe Cates, whom I'd like to have sex with).

Her father dressed up as Santa one year, and climbed down the chimney with the intention of surprising and delighting his family, and in particular his young daughter. Tragically he slipped and broke his neck, and his corpse ended up lodged in the chimney. When he was missing on Christmas Day, the family reported it to the police. Despite searching for days, they never found him. It was only when they began smelling his carcass as it started to rot in the chimney, that they finally discovered what had become of him.

Billy and the Mogwai managed to coax this tragic tale out of her, and at once I understood why indeed she (understandably) hated Christmas.

I have hated it for years actually, it's far too near my birthday (which I don't celebrate either) for my likes. It must be my jewish ancestry.
