I rate Waddle. He knows his stuff and has done it. He cares about England - which is more than you can say about Lawrenson or Gray. He knows how we play football and he backs it. I thought the commentators did a good job. Far far better than the BBC.

I didn't watch live so can't comment on Waddle, but what I want form a co commentator is insight. I want them to tell me things I can't spot for my self. I want some analysis. I don't want them to spout platitudes or just agree with the commentator and I don't want blind jingoism - I can supply that thankyou very much.

But dont you see - the angry young men of NSC think he's crap. How dare you and DKM have other thoughts. I happen to agree with you - it must be an age thing. I work with too many sweatered golf clique types to want to have my football enjoyment ruined by them as well.

And as for sky - that is the emperors new clothes of football coverage. What was once edgy and innovative is now a parody of itself and is rapidly (like the premier league) dissappearing up its own arsehole.

In fairness to the man England did struggle quite a bit up to Walcot's first goal. There seemed to be countless Croatian corners, with Terry and Brown being forced to thump the ball behind the goal. The second half was tremendous though!

Just watched the highlights.

After Walcott had made his first run at their defence - around 5 minutes into the match - he said "He's going to cause them trouble tonight". You could say he was right? Were you going to mention this point as well or not bother?

On the highlights I did hear a comment about tiredness at the start of the second half, but it was in response to a question put to him "What might the problems be for England?" and Waddle replied "Tiredness. You could see the white shirts getting tired after 60 minutes". In fact, they didn't look tired because by then they were only playing against 10 men. So he didn't say they were tired, he replied to a question making the point that it could be one of the problems.

He's not a great commentator, but if you pick and choose quotes, you can make a case either way.

I don't rate Waddle at all and his comments during the match against the Czech Republic made me more depressed than the football and that was very depressing!

I watched the match with some mates last night who had not heard Waddle before - one thought he was good and two thought he was awful!

No different to opinions on chairmen, managers, players, really!

How on earth football clubs can have a fans' representative on the board I don't know..he or she would only representing some of the fans some of the time!

I listened to game on radio 5 live last night, and I find it fascinating listening to Graham Taylor talk about goals with wonderful passing moves. It was his teams that started the trend of aerial bombardment, and never managing teams that knew how to pass and move.
