Chippy on The Championship

Much as I love Mr Carpenter, he was a f***ing idiot yesterday. Straight red, whatever the provocation. It wasn't a tap, or a gentle push, it was a full-on shove, with malice, right in front of the ref.

Fine him MM, cos his petulance could've put us in big jeopardy. He's old enough and experienced enough to know better.

Far too many stupid red cards this season

Was watching that myself and must admit that Chippy was well stupid, and right in front of the ref as well!
He let himself and his team-mates down badly - I just hope it doesn't cost us too dearly :nono:

Was stupid by Chippy, but there has got to be a reason why he did it

Very brain dead from Chippy and he should no better. Could have done with a better piece of footage to suggest that Hinsh was clearly shoved and they didn'y show the incident that led to the free kick goal.

Millwall must be gutted they ndidn't get that penalty for handball. To me it looked exactly like the the late one Arsenal conceded to Sheff Utd where you simply had to ask why the defender had his hands raised like that.

Let's hope Wigan don't have that sort of luck on Tues:angry:

Haven't seen the Championship (too busy washing the car), but my point of view yesterday was that he did it out of frustration.

Chadwick had been an annoying git all match especially with the push on Hinch that led to the penalty (very effective though). The deliberate blocking of the free kick, which the referee chose to ignore despite having booked Leon for timewasting earlier (scoring after being given offside), I think just pushed Chippy over the edge.

The ref only gave decisons one way all game, and if possible was worse than the referee at Stoke last week.

That's also what I read in the papers this morning

As I saw it, it was still just a push, no worse than plenty of other incidents. Stupid, yes, but I think a better referee would have shown him a yellow.

What seems unfair to me, is that he would have got the same punishment if he had decked him with an uppercut. And why does it have to be either a one match ban, or a three match ban? Shouldn't each case be judged on it's merits?

We can all react in the heat of the moment. Carpenter has been superb for us this season and scored some important goals. I'll forgive him. ;)

I agree. People who want him fined are being a bit harsh. Anyone who plays a team sport and has a desire to win could understand why he got frustrated and reacted that way, even if it wasn't the right thing to do.

A more cool-headed pro would have just kicked the ball at Chadwick - that would have got Chadwick booked and us 10 yards further down the pitch.

The fact that chippy ran a good five yards after Chardwick was childish in the extreme. He got what he deserved ....

McGhee must be VERY disappointed!

Carpenter is a complete and utter idiot. Anyone who gets themselves sent off at this crucial stage of the season needs their head tested. Let's hope McGhee hits Chippy with a very large fine. He deserves it no matter what the provocation.

True, Perth, he was frustrated and he is a team man. I love Chippy, but his response was out of character and could cost us dearly. He will be gutted about it, and has hopefully been given a bollocking, but he and the rest of the team have to realise that they have to keep their tempers. It's so important at this time of the season. A fine might drub it in.
