This post is no help whatsoever but you've just reminded me how good China Garden is.

Been a few times but the best was when we went with a Chinese friend of my stepmum and let her order for all of us. Amazing. Even the hen's feet...

There is a Japanese resturant on Preston Street, I cannot remember the name but it was brilliant I went for a friends birthday a few weeks back, open bar kitchen.
