If its not a mistake then you should get it all in a cheque. Dont get your hopes up yet though as we have had numerous letters from them saying they owe us different amounts of money. Did get £9k of them in February though so they do pay out if they have made a mistake.

The annual income to be eligible is really high so always apply. I think it's £58k for grown children or £66k if you have a child under one, so if you earn less you definitely qualify.

I just wondered how many children because £13k is a lot of money to be owed. I think CTC is £1,700 max per child per year and £580 per family per year.

We are not able to claim CTC but they randomly send us letters saying they owe us and we owe them. It never seems to get sorted out, my sister got an £11k cheque from there at Easter. She has four kids. Was a nice surprise.

Have a Happy Christmas! ;-)

Blimey, it is almost worth trying to have some children if you get paid that much for your efforts.

they said I owed the £550 pounds for my 2 kids ages 21 and 19, even thought I told them 2 years ago they were working..

several phone calls later the agreed it was a mistake and they actually owed me £150...

why I dont know and I dont think they know either...

I work in Housing Benefits and have heard of a couple who got a back payment of £21k. The guy was self-employed and they spent ages (about 2 1/2 years) sorting out his income etc and did not pay a thing all that time.
