With the news earlier that Kauto Star has had a nasty fall and is only 50/50 for the gold cup thought I'd start a thread nice and early!

Anyone making the journey to this quality event? Cheltenhams starting to buzz already!!

I will be there Tuesday and Wednesday this year. Went to a London Racing Club Festival preview last night, star of the show was the BHA senior handicapper Phil Smith, very interesting to hear his take.

Very bad news about Kauto Star, seems highly unlikely he will race, or be ready if he does. Does rather spoil what the big race race was all about this year.

Wont be going but have the week off work to watch it. My best ante post bet at the moment is an acca of Hurricane Fly, Sizing Europe. Big Bucks and Long Run which was placed last April at the princely odds of 215-1, its about 12/1 now. Plenty of other good bets too but Kauto Star being injured might bugger up my biggest ante post bet of Grands Crus for the RSA at 6/1.

Christ knows how Nicholls kept the new quiet as Kauto wasn't layed at all on betfair since last Friday. He must have a very tight ship there. If it was Hendersons Kauto would have been layed at all prices within 5 minutes of him hitting the deck.

Shows Nicholls up in a bad light though as he said last weekend that Kauto schooled well on Friday, turns out he nearly killed himself???

I thought Nicholls was very upbeat on 5Live this morning, so much so that I think the stated 50/50 chance is somewhat more pessimistic than the reality.

Getting the 6am train to Charing X Tues morn, then onto Paddington and in Cheltenham by just after 10am, counting down the days, can't wait.
