Cheltenham Festival

Following on from last year when I took the week off to watch the racing in a variety of pubs rather than actually going down to the course, where I saw my War Of Attrition romp home in 2006, I was wondering where NSC will be watching? And will Trigger or someone similarly reliable be running the NSC Festival predictions thread again this year?

We are looking at doing the Thursday in Burgess Hill and Gold Cup day at the Rendezvous down the Marina, which sounds dangerous. I might be tempted to do an Uncle Spielberg and go seriously large (and we all know what that'll mean)

This is the highlight of the racing season for me, so before we start talking about the betting itself, where are you planning to park yourself and watch?

Uncle Spielberg ran the Cheltenham one last year without ever putting up the tables, bloody useless!

I normally do the Royal Ascot one but if no-one else wants to do the Cheltenham one then I'll have a crack at that this year, I'll stick it up a couple of days before if no-one else has...

Nice one Trigger. Will you be making it down?

Haven't missed a day at the Festival since 1990, and not about to start now. Can't remember the last time I was looking forward to a race as much as Denman against Kauto Star - probably not since the 1988 Arc, in fact, when I hitched over to Paris to watch the greatest horse in racing history denied his place on the roll of honour in the cruellest of fashions.

probably not going to be on course for the first time in quite a few years, which means I'll be "watching" care of the Racing Post text commentary from my desk at work. Not good.

Got my copy of Paul Jones's Festival Betting Guide yesterday. Costs £12, but would heartily recommend it, certainly help you to approach the whole thing with a bit of logic rather than just betting on anything that moves.
