I've got to say I'm looking forward to this one - it's got everything; quality players aplenty, a bit of needle, and the winner is surely favourite to lift the trophy.

If Chelsea win the tie, I do think the Premiership could finally credibly call itself the best league in the world. But actually, I don't think they will.

Surely Chelsea, or an English team, would have to win the whole thing? You can't base it on just that tie. Juventus are every bit as good as Chelsea and Barcelona, you could make a strong case for them to win the whole thing.

AC Milan and Lyon arnt too bad either and if all the English clubs get through I doubt Chelsea would fancy Arsenal or Liverpool

It should be quite good. I'm looking forward to Joe Cole playing the monst. He's come on leaps and bounds and this will be a good test for him. He could be England's biggest threat in Germany.

Barca! Barca! When did top-level European football start being interesting again? It's never a dull game at the moment - even when the Italian clubs are playing.

Depends how you define "best" league - if it's by the greatest amount of talent, the Premiership may - very, very debatably - feature. Personally, I think a league is "good" if the play is high quality but also as importantly, a good and exciting competition in itself.

Given that most people knew Chelsea would piss it in this season long before a ball had been kicked in anger, and would only ever be challenged by 1-2 other clubs at the very most, the Prem is dull as f*** as a contest.

I reckon Barca will dick all over Chelsea.

True, Joe Cole is on fire. That 2nd goal against Colchester was awesome.

Good point, ironically this year is one of the first where there have been runaway leaders in all three of the major leagues, as well as France and Germany. Only Barcelona could get caught, and I think their recent bad form has been down to absent players who are now mostly back.

Lyon are a good team but more organised than creative. I think they would come a cropper against Juve. I cant see past Juve or the winner of the Chelsea-Barca tie.

Hmmm, don't discount AC Milan, they've been the most consistent side in the champions league in recent years.

True, but they werent great in the group stages this time. Even last night they were lucky to get something. Maybe thats the luck a team needs though.

They have beaten Juve in the league this year, but they have looked a lot weaker this year, their defence has let in a lot of goals, particularly at set pieces. Dida has had a few shockers as well.

I backed Lyon at the start of the competition, I can't remember what price they were and I've lost my slip, I hope they don't win.

:dunce:

I might watch Rangers. :lolol: :jester:
If they'd had a tie against one of the better teams, it would have been like watching Man Utd v Burton at Old Trafford. :)

Is it wrong, being English, to want Chelsea to get well beaten ?

Like Madrid were gonna do to Arsenal, right?

NO CHANCE!! Chelsea to win by 1 clear goal.

I don't recall ever saying that, infact I would have gone with the opposite. The current Real team though filled with Galacticos seems incapable of playing consistantly as a team. They've not exactly been overflowing with trophies in the last few years have they.
