He’s definitely not been on Dragons Den

:lolol:

“Next into the Den is Roman, a taxi driver from Leningrad. He’s seeking a £50,000 investment in return for a 0% stake in his multi-billion dollar oil, gas and mineral business that he fronts on behalf of the Russian Federation.”

On what basis do you suspect he 'is against the war'?

RA has become rich because of his association with Putin. Do you think he is where he is because he's some sort of brilliant entrepreneur?

Some need to realise this figure often seen previously from afar in some box at Chelsea actually had an apartment in the kremlin. He is in the middle of it.

Screw him and for Chelsea hahahahahaaha. Plastics practising their Geordie accent and taking off their Burberry (thank god never did my family any favours) and wearing nothing

Beat me to it. I assume this would involve them withholding any payments due.

If Chelsea are allowed to continue playing and paying players/ staff, it would seem logical that they can access income from Sky and non russian sponsorship etc. (I'm presuming these payments are spread throughout the season rather than all being paid upfront?).

If they can't access sky / sponsorship the cash will run out very quickly.

But they can't make a profit, or spend on new commitments without a licence, so these incomes will go into a holding account and be released as needed, to pay players, business rates and existing contracts etc.

This controlling of cash is a bit like the Government imposing Financial Fair Pay, which is a very interesting concept!

Exactly, the guy is only rich because Putin allowed him to be.

So- they can’t sell tickets- but they could give them out for free- to school kids, families etc. and give the away tickets to the away club for free.

It’s in their interests to do that as fans will spend money on food and drink which they are still allowed to sell.

Pretty brutal article on Chelsea fans, Putin's useful idiots..

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/...2?shareToken=bfac96e353e1166fc18ff0bd809edd3c

"A phalanx of this pitiful demographic has, over the past 20 years, acted as an unpaid army of PR bots for Roman Abramovich".....

"The Chelsea bots, even now, proclaim that Abramovich brought them glory. The truth is that he only ever brought them — and English football — shame"....

Thing is, and I agree with much of what Syed is saying, that last comment could be assigned to the EPL and English football as a hole - Doesn't really matter that the money can come from any source no matter how dubious or sustainable. Doesn't really matter that most of that money ends up in the ever more bulging pockets of the players. Doesn't really matter that many of the traditional fanbase have the money, or will, to travel to Brighton at 8pm on boxing day? It's rotten to the core and the long time lauding of Abramovich without wonder about how he obtained such fabulous wealth and without much scrutiny of his kinship with Putin is a a great reflection of this. Criticise Chelsea if you will but they're far from alone.

Yeap, the fit and proper test to own a football club needs to reviewed. The professional game has been eating itself for a long time in this country...

Little snippet from (the always very good) upshot today:

In his memoirs, Michael Owen recalled the oligarch rescuing the England squad when they got stuck on the runway in Moscow for several hours.
He wrote:

'I'll phone Roman Abramovich,' John Terry suddenly said from the row behind me.

John got his phone out, and phoned Roman. 'Roman, we're stuck in a plane queue at the airport,' he began, 'they're saying we could be ages. Any chance of sorting it?'

I kid you not - within three minutes of John ending the call - the plane engines started and we began to move. Before long, we were overtaking all the other planes in the line on our inside, straight on to the stand.

We were then out of the airport and straight on to the team hotel. It was all so bizarre - but highly indicative of the power Roman had.

Good stuff.

Chelsea's success over the last years has been financed by money connected to Putin.

I'm very happy to see that come to an end.

That fan hasn't realised that Chelsea's successes of recent years have been funded by the Kremlin. The Kremlin cash tap is now turned off.

I fear our schadenfreude will be short-lived, seems there are plenty of minted interested buyers clamouring to put bids in. NFL games at the Bridge soon etc
