The transfers of Samuel Eto'o and Willian to Chelsea in 2013 form part of a Premier League investigation into potential financial breaches, a new report has revealed.​

The duo arrived at Stamford Bridge a decade ago from the now defunct Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala - Eto'o on a free transfer and Willian in a transfer worth £30m.​

The Times' latest report suggests that financial records suggests payments were made to 'Russian entities' outside of the agreed transfer fees, with the issues uncovered during the due diligence process that eventually saw Todd Boehly's Clearlake Capital consortium take control of the club.​

2012 to 2019. If found guilty, they should take away any honours won by Chelsea during that period. From Wiki, that appears to be 2 FA Cups, one Milk Cup and a Europa Cup. Don't give the honours to another club.

A points deduction would be great but I can't see it happening, more likely a transfer ban reduced on appeal.

Personally, I don't get the 'taking away honours' punishment. It means nothing.

Portsmouth didn't deserve to win the FA Cup - they were in massive breach of financial regulations, and effectively bought success that they could not afford, with other people's money. If things were right and just, they would not have won that trophy. But win it, they did.

Expunge that win from their Wikipedia page if it makes anybody feel better, but it still happened - their fans still experienced that high, and will forever hold those cherished memories, regardless of what any record book says.

No City fan is going to remember the Aguero moment any differently, if 15 years later some suits declare that it no longer 'counts'.

Punishment NOW for past misdemeanours is the only deterrent. Pretending to change history is utterly meaningless.

It’s two separate aspects.

1. The full fees including agents fees (but not add-ons) are recorded fully at the date the contract becomes unconditional. Shown in trade creditors within club accounts, rundown by cash payments to the agent and selling club. This might be over two or three years.
2. The aforementioned total fee (excluding add-ons) is capitalised as a intangible fixed asset, then amortised in a straight line over the full term of the contract.

One person, Mel Morris at Derby, cheated FFP by each year subjectively revaluing each player upwards. By design trying to swerve annual amortisation charges to the P&L Account, to falsely show less severe accounts losses.

Exactly, they did that when UEFA transfer banned them a few years ago. Deliberately going on a huge shopping spree in the build up.
