Chelsea 'buy' 3 points

Chelsea have settled their 'tapping up' dispute with Leeds by chucking them £5m. That has saved them from an investigation by the FA which would have seen them lose three points after that punishment was suspended following the Ashley Cole transfer. Ken Bates had said a financial punishment woudn't be good enough, however now its heading his way, it appears it's OK.

All this was sanctioned by the FA who realise that Chelsea have more money than them and would cost them a fortune in legal fees. You've gotta love all this.

Not sure if thats true, my sources (ie Chelsea fan) said youth players not covered by this suspended sentence. Thats why they'll get away with trying to tap up the Boro kiddy - as caught on the Panorama programme, as well.

That was before the FA said kids are not covered by the suspended sentence or that a points deduction would be possible.

It has only ever been about the ££££ for a while now.

Christ on a bike. Really? Why on earth would it not cover youth players?

Then again, we are talking about the FA who are seemingly unable to even take small round balls out of a bag with any sort of organisation.

Still doesn't make him any less of a hypocrite though does it? Its hard to see who has come out of this loking worse, The FA, Chelsea or Bates. Yet they're all as happy as f*** with the outcome.

But what can he do? He can't personally deduct three points from Chelsea or impose massive financial penalties on them.

He wanted £££ from them, he got it. Now we can build another new bar at ER. Everyone is happy!

wherever the money is
Makes the million or so we got for Barry and Standing seem a bit pathetic after the 5 million shelled out by Chelski.

1. That's what I thought - points are the only form of punishment to Chelski

2. Wasn't Brooking awful - so much for the much hyped re-vamped FA Cup draw, who did Kings Lynn get in the end?

I know what you're saying, but you asked why he wasn't a hypocrite. He had said financial penalties weren't good enough then realises he can trouser £5m, then its ok all of a sudden. As you say, all 3 parties are now happy whilst everyone else has to wonder if the FA would have been so lenient with them.

Themselves, home and away, over 3 legs.

Lets be honest, if you think it's only Chelsea who run off with other clubs youth team players, you're delusional.

Chelsea are just the only ones to get caught.

Don't tell me Leeds have never used the "big club" line to tempt youngsters away from the likes of Barnsley, Halifax and Huddersfield, to use some local examples?

Since when was Ken Bates Mother Teresa.

It is not £5million up front. It is all dependent on whether the players get into the first team.
