Grated cheese is just better than sliced isn't it?

Slightly more faff, I grant you, but oh so worth it.

Does anyone in the whole world disagree?

I like both, grated for cheese on toast and in mash and sliced for sandwiches and on rolls. So I guess I'll vote indifferent then.

either/or for me , don't really mind

This is a cause of many arguments at Hillian Towers.

Grated for me, everytime. Mrs Hillian is a sliced devotee and really thick slices. All it does is overwhelm the flavour of everything else and sticks to the inside of your gob for ages.

The missus makes her own pickled spiced shallots. A few of those bad boys in with some sliced mature cheddar and BOOM - instant perspiration on the bridge of the nose. Damn good stuff though.

I trust all you grated cheese afficienado's are grating it YOURSELF from a proper slab, as opposed to buying a BAG of grated cheese. That is the ULTIMATE in lazy-arsedness.

Sliced cheese UNLESS it is with red onion.

I bought a cheese burger from one of the cafes on the seafront last Sunday, it came with GRATED cheese, I was horrified.

Got one of these bad boys, perfect grater for all hard cheese.

You are looking at the future.

Think it was on QI they talked about this, grated cheese will taste better due to surface area it covers in your mouth, personally I like grated with marmite or cucumber

I can't stand grated cheese in sandwiches. All the bits fall out all over the bloody place.
So you have to squash the sandwich to keep it in place, which tends to defeat the object.
So, sliced for me every time (with piccalilli. mmmm).

I like strong sliced cheese for sandwiches and think that grated is only to use less cheese especially by sandwich bars and cafes to make more profit.

That's correct in that you use less cheese. The Food Standards Agency advises people to eat grated because they will usually end up eating less as a result so it is healthier.
