You know that you're beaten when you cheat because you can

Just to add a little grist to the mill I have recently become something of a fan of PRE-SLICED cheeses. Although I haven't been able to find a decent pre-sliced cheddar (extra mature) there are some fabulous Bavarian smoked cheeses available (with or without ham) pre-sliced and I found a doozy of an emmental with chilli the other day

Pre-sliced Applewood smoked cheddar. is decent, and is the weapon of choice for our paninis.

Bread - as HKFC points out - is the other big factor.

Personally if it's sliced I go for seeded granary. I'm also a fan of the part baked rolls/baguettes that you finish in the oven,,,,,,delish!
And if I'm feeling the need to really chill I make my own bread using wholegrain flour and seeds - I've got a machine but never use it as there's nothing more satisfying than kneading dough

How many did you add Bozza, 1000? :lolol:

Sliced for me, doesn't fall out the sandwiches! Although I used grated when I'm making wraps, sliced just doesn't fold as well.
