Yes, but at least it is f***ing bankers getting the chop after causing everyone else to have financial problems.
If they were having to live in the real world, there would be thousands more out of work!

I bet the tossers are still trying to tell everyone else how to run their businesses as well!

You can bet your bottom dollar that most of the banking bosses have already sorted themselves out financially. They don't give a flying f*** about anyone but themselves. Selfish tossers the lot of 'em. Just my opinion of course!

Leeds - but not the dirty bit
I'm in Lloyds queens road quadrant and lost mine a few weeks back(though I have till q3 next year to find something)

heard about you guys yesterday. Awful news, especially when the Indians get to keep all their equivalent jobs.

But we must APPLAUD the decision to takeover hbos still.....

I work for HBOS in Leeds and our jobs are going too. We didn't want to be taken over either.
My job is being offshored and I have to teach them how to do it.
One good thing about HBOS was that almost all jobs were UK based. Now everything is being taken over Lloyds staff or the sub-continent.
Happy days, thousands of jobs going up here.

I work for Lloyds and my job is going to HBOS workers in Edinburgh, so it's not just HBOS workers losing their jobs to Lloyds staff.

ive been made redundant 3 times now, decided to go self employed now cos its so hard to find a job that lasts, stonkingly hard to work for yourself and actually make any money, all you seem to do is shell out for equipment and bills but im determined to keep going. Not nice when it comes as a shock like that and i have every sympathy but like the rest have said, just be "military" about it and you`ll get another one before the redundancy runs out,

Can you leave early and still get the redundancy? Ask your employer, one of mine let me know I was gonna be going on a particular date so i said to them if i find a job in the interim will i still get my redundancy and they said yes and they even paid me my full notice weeks as well, even though i didnt work all of them. worth an ask.

Same here.

Of course, and I wasn't suggesting for one moment that it wasn't, but it's awful for those losing their jobs at hbos also.

I worked for Lloyds for 20 years until October last year when i was made redundant. I left on the same day I was told. I was actually given 2 weeks notice but as I had holiday to take thought it best to go on that day. Best bit of advice I could give you is try not to be bitter about it. I was for a little while but it achieved nothing. Got another job On Xmas Eve. Its not the job I would have chosen to do but it pays the mortgage and I was prepared to do anything. There are jobs out there, you just have to be prepared to do anything even if it is while you are looking for something better. Good Luck

Up in the Gods
My heart goes out to anyone affected by the recent announcements. I am shocked by their strong arm tactics in terms of job cuts. I truly hope that everyone manages to get through such a traumatic time.

For those gullible enough to believe every sensationalist comment made in the media (& Robert Peston is a prime example), the credit crunch was NOT the fault of the vast majority of people working in RETAIL Banking. The decisions to lend recklessly were made by a "select" few in SOME of the Banks (not LTSB) & encouraged by the analysts / traders in the Stock Market. Consequently Lloyds shared were crucified pre-Credit Crunch because the City thought LTSB was too cautious, only to find that they were one of the best placed to survive the credit crunch. Hence the Government creating this shot-gun wedding.

Lloyds don't care about who you previously worked for now, they just want to cut costs massively & quickly to create sufficient capital to cover the HBOS exposure they've inherited & get rid of the Government shareholding.

Oh & I'm old fashioned enough to save for things & not buy things I can't afford. Just because someone offers you drugs doesn't mean you have to take them!

Whilst I see the reason behind this, when it's a mortgage you could afford easily but can't now because you're earning 50% less than you were then it no longer rings so true.....sorry if I'm misinterpreting, no offence intended.

Pork pie you seem very bitter although I dont work in collections or advise eric daniels how much he charges you late payment charges or interest , I dont get ur lpc or interest funnily enough . I get a wage to support a family for doing my job. Which is making sure customers credit cards run smoothly and help if there not. so thanks for your consideration.

it may amuse you (in an ironic sence) that i saw Lloyds TSB are recruiting for mortgage advisors and personal banking managers (whatever that is) up in London. i thought the trend for outsource was dieing out, i know many IT companies are bring back jobs as the managment overheads go up and quality goes down the toilet when the jobs are being done remote from the main business.

Am very sad to hear this and I sympathise with you enormously. Dont get bitter, keep your options open and Im sure you will find other work.

End of an era though, by the sounds of it. I joined TSB Trustcard when it first moved to Brighton in 1984 and worked there for 15 years. An ex colleague of mine who has been moved to Haywards Heath says that in all likelihood, Quadrant is going to go next year as well which will mean that there will be no LTSB back office in Brighton at all. It was one of the biggest employers in Brighton at one time. Very sad.

Good luck to you and I hope things work out for you
