Cheating Germans FIX the World Cup draw...

Anyone else hear on the radio this morning how the sausage-munchers fixed that draw ? Notice at the start of the draw, there were two pre-determined teams already in their allotted groups. Germany (as hosts) were placed in Group A, and Brazil (as holders) were placed in Group F. 'So what ?' I hear you sigh. 'Can you hurry this up, I've got things to do'. OK, I'll tell you. There is absolutely NO COMBINATION of results that can see a team from Group A meet a team from Group F before the World Cup Final itself.

Thats right boys and girls, Germany cannot meet Brazil at any point, unless it is in the Final. They'll conveniently avoid them all the way through the tournament. Handy eh ? Now I know why Germany had to be position 1 in Group A, as the hosts always take part in the opening fixture of the tournament. But why did Brazil have to be in Group F ? Well, I suppose we know now.

Bloody krauts.

Wouldn't worry about it, they won't make it to the final anyway.

Are you sure about that ?

???

I always thought it was the hosts. I'm sure the first game is Germany v Costa Rica. Uncle Buck'll know.

Well actually DAVE, you're WRONG.

In the Semis, the winners of group A will play the runners up of F, and the winners of group F will play the runners up of group A.

They will avoid each other if they both win their groups though.

I remember watching France in 2002 get beaten by Senegal in their opening game, but that DEFINATELY wasn't the opening game of the tournament, cos I saw it during my lunch hour at work in midweek.

Yeah, this time it is the hosts, but it's usually the winners.

Remember, last time it was the holders France. And they lost to Senegal. *snigger*

And in 1990, Argentina the holders played first. And lost to Cameroon. *snigger*

Usually previous winners...

France played in the opening game in 2002 (and lost).
Brazil played in the opening game in 1998 (against Scotland).
Germany played Bolivia in 1994.
Argentina played the opener in 1990 - against Cameroon - and lost. What a game that was.

No Easy I think YOU are right. Winner of Group A plays the runner up of Group B in the 2nd Round, with the winner of B playing the runner up of A. The winner of the Winner A vs Runner up B plays the winner of the Winner C vs Runner Up D, with the winner of Winner B vs Runner Up A plays the winner of the 2nd Round game between Winner D vs Runner Up C.

It's pretty f***ing simple.

The DFB gave Brazil & Germany groups F & A because those two groups have the biggest venues (Berlin & Dortmund) meaning the two popular sides would have the biggest audiences. The fact that this also meant the two of them avoided each other was surely an oversight.

France played Senegal in the first game in 2002
Brazil played Scotland first in 1998
Germany played Bolivia first in 1994
Argentina played Cameroon first in 1990
Italy played Bulgaria first in 1986
Argentina played Belgium first in 1982

So it's usually the previous winners who are in Group A.

The SIZE of the venue is irrelevent as the largest audience will be on TV so an extra 20,000 or 30,000 in the actual stadium doesn't really matter.

It's been acknowledged that England will have MORE fans in Germany than ANY other team, around 100,000, with the SOLE exception of Germany. Which is fair enough seeing as their fans LIVE there.

Therefore I would advocate that we should've been in Group F as the World's NUMBER TWO team and the one with the MOST fans. After Germany.
