Gunns in Castle Square sell excellent flowers for a reasonable price. You can get a lovely bouquet for less than a tenner.

In my experience one should not give the cheap version of anything as a present. If you cannot stretch to doing it properly, rethink the idea. Especially when it comes to floral offerings. Women can sniff out cheap flowers like a fart in a car. Get her something special or nothing at all.

Carnations are always cheap AND they have that added "straight off the petrol station forecourt" freshness.
