Now that is a surprise LI defending Charlie.
He has played very well this season today wasn't one of his best games but he did ok. To say he isn't upto it is totally wrong. Charlie has proved he can play at this level and has been very consistent all season. He has proved most of his doubters wrong.
Would rather have him in the team in front of Nicolas or Hammond at the moment. it would have been wrong to change the team today and it cost us the match. In midfield we were always competing.

I was a critic of Charlie last time in Div 1. I thought he was average last year as well.

However, as much as it proves me wrong, he's done very well for most of this season. OK, he didn't have a good game today, but it was far from bad. I think over the last few weeks he played the best that I have ever seen. If he has a bad game, I'll take that for what it is. If it keeps on, then I'm sure MM will look at it again.

How many people have been calling for Chippie to get dropped? MM has stuck with him and now he's playing very well again.

can some one just remind me how many games we are now unbeaten in the league. that was not our best performance of the season, looked like their minds were else where. however forest didnt exactly show us that they are going to get out of their current position.

reality check everyone for f@@k sake!

the team is exceeding expectations, mine anyway, in a league i couldnt honestly see us staying in. however, if the team carry on with the same committment especially away WE WILL stay up.

withdean i believe is having a negative effect on the players, it must be almost impossible to play at home after trips away when the atmosphere is so good.

as far as i am concerned the biggest test of all is about to start in a couple of weeks. quit F@@king moaning and hope that falmer is given the green light.

There is also the issue that Andy Reid is an excellent player and was pulling the strings the whole match, despite being a fat bastard.
he was brilliant against Sheffield United the other week

He didn't have his best game today, but he's proved so many people wrong this season by proving that he can play, as well as tackle & defend etc.

I didn't think he was anything like up to this level, but at the moment, it seems like he can. And long may it continue. I'd also like to see Nicolas (and to a lesser extent, Hammond) in the team, but this only goes to show how strong our squad is becoming - there are 5 or 6 players who could justifiably claim to be worth a place in the midfield.

Er, hello???

Since becoming full time club captain we have lost one game, against premiership opposition in a match in which we equalled a mutli million pound team for much of the game.

We have played 7 games in less than 4 weeks and have been playing out of our socks in them all. Forgive me for having sympathy but perhaps the boys are knackered? It's hardly as if we are operating a squad rotation policy. And we are still unbeaten in 6 league games.

Perhaps Oatway isn't the most skilfull player we posess and his contribution isn't always obvious but he is our captain and the captain should lift the team. Having lifted the team to a run fo form which is, quite frankly, most unexpected and very very welcome I can see no option but to praise him and the rest of the team.

So Forest wasn't the best game we've played.

WE DIDN'T LOSE, AGAIN!

Some people are unbelievable in their reading of a situation. What we have achieved so far is truly incredible as far as I am concerned and I salute Charlie Oatway just as much as I have praise for Mark McGhee.

Get off Charlie's back, he is great. I don't give a shiny shit if he doesn't fit in to some people's ideals of what we need or want to see. While we are winning and drawing games (none of which we have a right to win) he deserves not one bad word, from anyone.

I will start slating Oatway the day he plays with all the effort of Stan Collymore and Mark McGhee decides he is not good enough.

FACT: Charlie Oatway is a better footballer than anyone who posts on this board

FACT: Mark McGhee knows more about football than anyone who posts on this board

I was trying to think of a suitable reply and this says it all. I agree with every word.

I am glad that MM is our manager.

(at least I didn't say 'what he said')

"Charlie Oatway is a better footballer than anyone who posts on this board"

Agree with most of what you say apart from that line. What sort of argument is that? Of course he is but what does that prove? That no-one is allowed to question his performances?
Yes, Oatway is having a good season and his real strength is as a leader and stopping other teams play. But he was poor yesterday. I don't know how anyone can argue with that. I would have liked to see Nicholas on for Oatway and Jones on for Harding, another piss poor performance from him. But instead, Jones came on up front ! What was that all about?

I'm a big fan of McGhee but God does he make some strange decisions. Still at the end of the day it was a useful point.
