Oatway is a joke, meant to be this midfield terrier, but never puts a decent tackle in, breaks up play, and hardly ever wins the loose ball - we need someone else in there NOW

Carpenter was quality on Saturday, doing all the things that Oatway should have been doing. Carpenter carried oatway throughout the game.

This is simply not good enough. You can see why McGhee often wants the players to lump the ball.

Charlie is bound to be a bit off the pace - he's been out for a long time. To be fair to Charlie, he only had the Orient game before he got thrust into the first team picture. He needed at least 3 reserve games to get match fit and we just did not have the fixtures - not his fault.

I think the criticism of a player who always gives 100% is frankly disgusting. He is a proven division 2 championship winner and therefore has proven he can more than compete at this level.

Once he gets match fit, he will do a very competent job for us. When Si Rodger comes back, him Carpenter and Oatway will be a force to be reckoned with.

Charlie is invaluable to the team for morale.

I'm not convinced about this morale business, everyone in their interviews says the same thing about David Lee, I couldnt really care if Oatway is the funniest thing around, I want to see the team winning games, if Oatways so good, stick him on the bench, but dont start him when its blatantly obvious he's out of his depth!

Fair point BG, every single player interviewed says what a great laugh Oatway is, or an "honest pro", but that doesn't help us much on the pitch. We can easily find another comedy genius if thats so important for morale. I'd have thought it would be a better boost to morale to actually have a midfielder who can influence games so we can win them, a la Friio at Plymouth, or Rowlands at QPR (their only half decent midfielder from what I saw).

I know he's not exactly 100% fit, but I expected him to be wound up a bit more than he looked on Saturday for QPR of all teams.

Can't see why he's quite so popular with some people, it's not as though he's ever been particularly complimentary about us is it?

He wasn't the worst on the pitch at QPR though.

Whenever chippy plays with Oatway he struggles with the burden of having to do two midfielders roles. Oatway can never hold on to the ball, he gives it away all the time. So Chippy never gets the chance to push forward or find any space.

Oatway is not a proven Division 2 championship winner. Taylor dropped him when he realised he wasn't up to it and brought Lewis in. He hasn't really been a vital cog in the machine since Div 3 days.

The thing that really irritated me on Saturday was when he kept going over for short corners. None of them caused any kind of danger! Meanwhile the balls thrown straight into the box caused all sorts of mayhem.

If McGhee insists on playing him, he should be banned from the attacking third of the pitch when we take a corner and instead be defensive cover. Oh, hang on a minute - he doesn't have a great deal of pace either - just drop him altogether

As I put on another thread, if Charlie scored in the sixth minuite he would have been a hero. MM seems to be playing Charlie just in front of the back four, and did OK last week. Also his own admission in the local press a coulple of months ago hinted his playing career is comming to an end.

Junior Lewis has been on a free transfer for the whole season. He has played for the following clubs that I know of. Southend, Dover Athletic, Leicester, Brighton & Hove Albion. Anyone notice the obvious link? Yes Peter Taylor, who now he has to actually manage a club has a problem, especailly now that Hull are trimming the purse strings.

Sorry one and all. Rant over.
