I too was thinking about this, recently.
I would still love to do the whole trip by bike, but I just can't make those dates work with my shifts.
I'll have a think about it and see if I can make a solo trip the week before.

Suggestion, it might be worth contacting the Huddersfield cyclists, I know it was a whole different level and needed escorts and support cars etc but they may have some advise.

Great idea.

I have a little experience in what is needed, but more knowledge is great

I guess its a choice of 2 dates

Friday 15th July (day before Sussex Senior Cup Final)
Friday 5th August (day before 1st league game)

29th July is ruled out because of Portugal trip / Netherlands vs Sussex

I will do this Brett.

I think the day of a game is out of the question and the day before doesn't give much recovery time. What about a Saturday in the close season?

Hopefully it'll go better than my attempt to cycle round all the London grounds in a day!

I'd be well up for this as I'm a keen cyclist, not sure how much I could raise as i've already did Lands End to John O Groat's a couple of years ago.
But would more than happy to cycle it and be in support for some of the more 'experienced' members for who it would be a far greater achievement....

I will need to start getting an idea of numbers, so I can start looking into various costs etc.

If you want to do this and are available on Friday 15th July or Friday 5th August (the two provisional dates set at present) please let me know.

Friday 5th August is my prefered date as it gives more time to organise it, more time for people to train and it coincides with the first league game at the AMEX

I'm still interested, especially if it's for fun rather than being a big charity thing now that it's at relatively short notice.

Mendoza - I did the (overnight) 120 mile Dunwich Dynamo ride last year, from London to Suffolk coast.

This has around 1,000 riders these days, but isn't organised in the sense of having support vehicles, etc. An approach worth considering?

Do you think you can cycle that distance (150-odd miles) in ONE day?

It looks like it maybe a bus/coach/drive to from The Goldstone to The Priestfield, then cycle to Withdean, then to The AMEX. Making it more like 65 miles, which is doable

Sounds like a plan.

Happy to help in whatever capacity - except cycling.

For instance, I can organise the hiring the van(s) to get people to Kent, and be part of the support team if necessary. Someone might need to tell me what the latter entails, mind.

Easy: intimate massage, supply of amphetamines, clearing up bodily waste, and a bit of mechanics.

I am really interested in this. My mrs auntie passed away recently and i have been looking for something to do in memory of her. It will also help me to get fit aswell. I will start training as soon as possible. The August date is better for me personally and feel that it means more. Are we all doing it for one charity (eg REMF) or our own chosen ones?

Hope i am welcome.

I was thinking more just driving the van...

We need a mini bus like for Stoke - and a trailer to put all the bikes in.

Then you can drive everyone up to the Priestfield. You can then drive at the front of the pelaton, and have the van full of water, drinks, fruit, sweets, first aid kits and the cyclists clothes/bags etc. Then you and a glamorous assistant can hand these out at designated stops - I think Hiney wanted to do this too a while back.
