If it is a chore could it be set up that all users can change their username once say every 10 years, so in effect once? That'll allow those who want to change it for some reason (real name and the like) but not let people act silly.

Sounds like a good plan. Woud also stop people acting like twats, getting an internet kicking, then coming back for more under a different username.

I'd like to say yes, purely as my username is a name I've been called here, and in the real world for years which is fine. However, now we have signed Lua Lua getting notifcations of mentioned about me bleachng my hair, speeding down the wing etc is a tad irksome. So yes would love to be able to change my username, would be happy just to do it once though

I apologise and I am probably to blame for most of those notifications you have got

- We can configure it so that a user can only change their username once every X days, where X can be whatever we like. So, for example, we could set it so that you can only change your username once a quarter.

- Every user will have a 'username history' in their profile so others can view what others names they were known by and when.
Too often and with history makes it pointless and irritating IMO. I'd rather it be once every 18 months years, without history. So if you really need to change it, you can, without bothering the mods. But you can't keep doing it on a whim.

No problem, obviously never thought we would be signng such players as these, so figured usng my everyday nickname would be fine, how wrong I was. Of course wouldn't change it for the world and am loving the ride having experienced such players as Farrington, Cameron, Loft etc. Just don't feel I'm worthy enough to be mentioned with such illustrious company :ffsparr:

Was there ever a point when people had to pay £10 to the REMF to change their name? Or was that an urban myth?! If it was a myth then I think that's the way forward, if it is still the case, then carry on!

Agreed, £10 charge to change your username, payable to NSC (to cover overheads) or payable to REMF, it may stop people opening new accounts, just because
they've made a prat of themselves and are embarressed about a recent posting.

122% yes. The amount of absolute ball sack and crack I've posted under this username over the years doesnae bear stinkin' about. Bring it on and I can be reborn as Seagull000 (or vaguely similar)

No. Although given my "style" and limited themes most people would know it is me if I changed my name anyway.

The option to change username without NSC's deity having to sort it out is the way to go providing everyone is sensible.
