Definitely not at the airport ! Hole in the walls abroad will depend on your bank - if it's someone like Nationwide then the charges are minimal and worth the extra security you get not carrying round wads of cash.

If you do want to change money in this country then the Post Office are worth using - just make sure you keep your receipt if you want to change back anything on your return as they're funny buggers when it comes to changing money to sterling.

Tescos & M&S are offering better rates than the Post Office at present which is why I posted the link to the Money Saving Expert's website as there are up to date comparisons there.

Fair point - the only thing I will say is that unless you're changing WADS of cash the difference you get in your pocket between different high street suppliers is often negligible.

Probably too late now but try and pre order on line at Travelex for pick up at airport. Always best to pre order currency, you'll get at least 7 or 8% more than walk up business

I agree but 3 weeks ago the PO were offering 1.18 on Euros and the other 2 were 1.20. It's approx 1.22 now. All three outlets are commission free.

Correct answer. Travelex are the best and most convenient.

Always got mine at M&S. You get a pretty good rate.
Post Office is good as well.

And don't forget to take your passport with you if you're changing a large amount, not sure what the limit is, though. Best take it with you to be sure.

Always get your currency abroad from a hole on the wall. You always get a better rate than buying it here.

I find that the best rate can normally be found in pawnbrokers. When I went away last banks etc were offering about 1.12 I got 1.20 from a pawnbrokers.

Al I found the best rate at the little Bureau De Change behind the Arcade opposite Churchill Sq. That is at the end of the arcade that Forfars are in and nearly opposite Costa Coffee Shop in the road that the buses go up to come back down Western Rd

More important to check to see what they buy it back at unless you hold on to it after you hols for the next trip. Also, unless you buying £000s the difference is sometime not worth bothering about.
