IF we win away at Tinpot in the 3pm kick-off, we would be top of the table for a couple of hours at least. Man City (2nd) v Spurs (3rd) is the late game.

We all know how it went on Tuesday night though at Fulham. Hopefully it’s a much better on Saturday :albion2:

No. Every time we have a chance to top the league we scuff it.

No. No. No.

“Every time !”
It’s really only been that time v Palace last year I think.
And The chance to go top in mid play v Leeds - and then we didn’t scuff it. We won . And we did. (For 5 minutes)

Fool! You fool! Your optimism will doom us all!

We will blow Muff away and the lucky sods who are there will be able to sing “We are top of the league, say we are top of the league”

If I was there I can tell you I wouldn't sing that. It would be "we're gonna win the league" now that we'd have played SEVEN games.

I could never bring myself to sing like that after the "we're winning away, how shit must you be" at Fulham, only to be battered from thence forth. .... Kudos to the Fulham though when they went ahead and came back with "with winning at home, how shit must you be" etc. Never set yourself up for a mugging. a-la Leicester today with their songs...

What did Leicester fans sing then?

On a similar note, I saw on Friday that we were 100/1 to be top of the league on the 19th September. I did the calculations and with the assumption we won our 3 games we’d have needed something along the lines of:

Arsenal - Lose to United, Beat Everton, Draw with Brentford
Man City - Beat Villa, Draw with Spurs, Draw with Wolves
Spurs - Beat Fulham, Draw with City, Beat Leicester

I was tempted to stick a tenner on it but then I forgot all about it.

I’m now in the situation where going too of the league after beating our biggest rivals will came with a massive pang of sadness for me.
