The Champions League draw has been declared void and will be "entirely redone" at 14:00 GMT.

Uefa's statement: "Following a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the officials as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred in the draw for the Uefa Champions League Round of 16.

"As a result of this, the draw has been declared void and will be entirely redone at 1500 CET (14:00 GMT)."

The whole draw was a bit odd. For something apparently reliant on a computer system it still relied on Geoff from accounts to walk over to each bowl and manually pick a ball out the Simon told him was eligable for that opponent (ie not from the same group or country) and put them in another bowl in front of Phil to swish around a bit and pick out.

Completely open to a cock up and also (not that this is the suggestion), VERY easy to fix as the drawer can clearly just see which ball came from which bowl and make sure he picks that one out.

Also....as it was going along I'm pretty sure there was a way that two English teams could have been left as the last 2 teams....when they are not allowed to play each other. Would that make the whole draw void?

The whole situation seems to be that Man Utd were wrongly put forward as a potential opponent for (i think) villereal. They were drawn and the drawmaster then said (oh, they cant play each other as they were from the same group). So they picked out another team, which was man city. They then stood there for 2 mins as the Computer said No (clearly drawing Man Utd out first confused it).

All bizarre.
