Chain letters.

Why, do otherwise perfectly rational, sane people, feel the need to forward on crappy chain e-mails all the time? What is it that makes a generally logical, intelligent individual, send on some pile of crap, written by a lonely American loser with too much time on their hands, for fear of "having a bad day" or some such terrible fate.

E-mail accounts, social networking site profiles, even work inboxes, all get inundated with e-mails from people, usually accompanied by a message to the effect of "sorry for forwarding it, but you never know, do you?" (ie "I don't want the bad luck, but I don't mind if you get it"), promising a life of everlasting doom and devastation if you fail to pass them on to at least ten friends within one hour

YES, YOU DO KNOW!!! STOP forwarding this shit, because I'll only bin it, and I'm sure if I'm binning everything you send me, that bad luck will be revisited on you TENFOLD.

Why are people so gullible when it comes to this crap? And who sits at home writing them all??

They, pardon my French, f*** me off no end. You spot the name of a good friend nestled in the inbox and expect a jolly email asking how you are etc. but end up with a "National Hug Day - forward to ten people you want to hug and your dreams will come true" or "Microsoft are getting rid of their hotmail addresses. Forward this on to avoid getting deleted". I would rather be deleted than face a barage of this shite spam that dilutes the important stuff. STOP f***ing SENDING ME THIS SHIT. I currently have 278....ooh another one....279 new emails in my inbox. I would imagine that 50% are from recruitment agents offering me a trouble free job with a hefty salary, 40% are chain mails/shite, 9% intersting useful emails from friends and 1% from BHAFC telling me that we have beaten Palace 1-0 and a DVD is now available.

There's one doing the rounds on Facebook which urges people to forward it to everyone you know in order to prevent James Bulger's killers from being permitted anonymity "as they're due to be released from prison". I've been sent it three times now.

HELLO? ARE YOU ALL STUPID? It's 2007, and those two were released SIX years ago, which just goes to show that the people who forward them on are so obsesssed with either the potential "bad luck", or being thought of as mean spirited, they just forward any old crap without bothering to read it.

I used to like Facebook - It was a useful tool to catch up with old school friends and share photos, but now you are bombarded with zombie, cookie crap etc. it is a pain in the arse. All this rubbish dilutes the important stuff.

It's an urban myth and an ancient one at that since it's been circulating since 19 f***ing 99. Since this sort of shyte is almost always a hoax of some sort, I don't understand why people find it so difficult to do a quick Google search first before making buffoooons of themselves by sending if off on another interminable round.

If I see - send this to 10 of your friends and this will happen etc etc - then I delete it immediately without reading the rubbish beforehand.

I used to own an Ericsson T18. About 7 years ago. It's a brick of a phone but it looked cool at the time. If I received a free one now, I would not be pleased.

I used to work with a (very superstitious) woman.
Everytime she got one of these she would call me over and I would have to delete the email as she was so scared to do it.....just pressing the delete key sent her into spasms of fear due to the pitiful threats in the email.

I've now REMOVED my Superwall! It's playing up anyway - can't see new messages - but the ones I've been getting weren't worth seeing in the first place!

What I still can't understand is why people don't take a second or so out to THINK before forwarding anything on Facebook. Because if you've had some video or similar forwarded onto you, and you share a number of friends with the person who has sent it, then they've probably got the sodding thing already!!!
