Murcia
Big crunch game at the bottom of Spanish Div 2

Albion connections:-

Cadiz - director of youth football Michael Robinson.

Real Murcia - Ex Club of well known Irish singer and part time footballer Johnny Dixon, also Gifton Noel Williams had a season with them.

A defeat for either could be the nail in the coffin.

Come on you Reds

It's bad news for whoever goes down because the third level of Spanish football is regionalised. Consequently it's not just a case of winning or coming second in your league. That only gets you to a play off, where there are (I think) 8 teams.

So getting back to the second level is difficult even if you had a good season. Cádiz managed it last year.

Weren't Murcia in the top flight only recently?

My in-laws have a place down near there and we visited the shopping mall next to the ground a couple of years back when we went. Therefore I think they should win!

Come on Murcia!

Do they live in Mula?

My parents live near Murcia - Fortuna. I understand from my Dad that Real Murcia have a pretty impressive stadium?

That does indeed look pretty impressive!

...and smaller at the second attempt.

Cadiz actually have a hell of a lot in common with the Albion, aside from just the Michael Robinson connection. They're about the same sort of sized club, have had a spell in the top division but generally a bit lower down, have great potential to go higher than they currently are, are based in a seaside forward-thinking city, and have the best fans in their country (they've actually won awards for this). And if you went there and saw the atmosphere they produce (with no roof) then you would see what Withdean could be like.

Hmmm....thinking of adopting Cadiz as my Spanish team based on that.

Decisions decisions.

Other options are Xerez and Depor (longer standing possibility).

Any persuaders out there?

Come and join us! Especially as we now have every chance of avoiding relegation this season.

There's an unofficial website in English here http://www.cadizfc.net plus info, especially about the fans, on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadiz_CF

And as Commander says the atmosphere they create is fantastic, even without a roof on three sides of the ground.
You should come out and see for yourself, you won't regret it! And if you time it right you go to a game at Xerez as well, it's not too far away.

I've got some close friends from Murcia, so have been 'following' them a bit these past few years. Havent made it to the new Condomina yet though.

Relegation is going to be a complete disaster. And another example of a club building a new ground at the expense of their performances on the pitch- eg. Leicester, Stoke (originally) etc. I don't mean anything by that, just that its weird how often it tends to happen.

And to really rub salt into the wound, Cartegena could get promoted to La Liga. Painful..

The 2nd best atmosphere I've ever witnessed (after Boca a couple of months ago) and this was the last day of the season when they had already been relegated. I went to the Albion against Stoke (I think) a few days later in exactly the same situation. What a contrast that was.
