This is our major problem at the moment - Crofts and Navarro together just don't work, they are too similar.
They both scurry around and hassle the opposition and sometimes break up play but creativity from these two is zero.
They are both defensive midfielders and playing two together never works, we're crying out for some creativity from the middle.

Crofts and Navarro will probably make good squad players but they certainly shouldn't be first choice week in week out.

To me it is blindingly obvious that the best central midfield pairing we could currently play is Dicker alongside Thornhill.
Dicker was by far our best defensive midfielder last season and Thornhill offers the creativity and goalscoring threat.
An absolute no brainer.

Thoughts please......

Dicker and Crofts, thread closed

I agree with HG201. I was impressed with Crofts, especially in the first half when I thought he got through a lot of work. I'm very surprised Dicker hasn't played until this afternoon, but when he came on he looked very promising and threatened when going forward.

Still to be impressed by Thornhill or Navarro as yet.

I would go with Dicker as the holding midfielder and until Thornhill is fit use Navarro further forward as I prefer him to Croft and thought that he was the better one today although he tired

Well at least we know why he made those slightly down-beat comments at the start of the season about us not having too hign expectations and the squad needing time to gel - he'd suddenly realised that the new players he'd brought in weren't as good as the ones he'd let go.

Dicker looks competant going forward with the ball - I think Crofts as the defensive midfielder and Dicker in a more advanced role could work. (Havn't seen thornhill yet)

It makes you wonder why managers and coaches cant see the obvious. Dicker was immense when he came on and should start next Friday. Poor tactics, poor team selection. Too many midfield players, do we have enough defenders now?
B & W should go.

I'll me amazed if Dicker doesn't start on Friday, hopefully with the loanee.

High up on the South Downs.
Unbelievable that Dicker has been left out. Every Albion fan seems to agree on this. Navarro and Crofts did not protect the back 4 yesterday. Navarro looks unfit.

Gary Dicker MUST start on Friday night.

We also need a few leaders on the pitch, one in the centre of defense and one in the centre of the midfield. We dont seem to have any of these types at the club anymore.

Virgo is supposed to be captain but he does not seem to lead well vocally or 'by example'. When things turn against us he seems to get caught up in the malaise as much as the other players. We need a leader to chart us through periods when things are going against us. The last two games when things aint running for us we have totally collapsed.
