Being old, my memory may not always be right, but I believe that, on this day in ....

1972 I was part of the crowd of 34,766 at the Goldstone to see us clinch promotion from the old Div 3 (where we are now) with a 1-1 draw with Rochdale. The point suited both sides as they stayed up. Great scenes at the end of the game.

1977, we Beat Sheff Weds 3-2 at the Goldstone, clinching promotion before another 30.000+ crowd from Div 3. Weds scored an early goal and it was all nerves until we cracked it about 20 mins from time. Weds 2nd was scored in the last min and there were already fans on the pitch.

1997, Hereford away. need I say more?

Let's hope that 2007 brings an election win in Lewes.

That Wednesday game was one of the best I ever saw - they didn't need any points, yet came at us with intent! I was in the North Stand, and I believe Wardy missed a real sitter in that game, and they made it a nerve jangler all the way.
Astounding match.

Didn't Eric Potts play in that game, for Wednesday? or is my memory clouded?
There was someone we bought from them wasn't there?

I think you're right about potts, a very clever winger who had some fine games for us.

I missed the 1977 one...out of the country at the time. hard to forget the other 2.

Maybe we should declare May 3rd as Albion Day and give us all a day off!

I went straight from primary school to that Rochdale game. Scorching hot weather if I remember correctly. Global warming my arse. It was so hot that night I had to take my blazer off. Such memories.

In those days they just packed 'em in, none of this H&S lark.

I remember getting into the North Stand, long before KO, and there were already people coming out feeling faint in the heat.
