Catherine Zeta-Jones CBE - WHY?

Anyone got any idea why she has got this CBE in the Queen's birthday honours?

Apart from services to the elderly (well her husband anyway) what has she actually done, as she spends most of her time in the good old USofA its got me totally baffled.

Don't get me wrong the vast majority of the normal people who get honours deserve them but as always which ever civil Servants who get involved with the high profile recipients always seem to miss the mark.

i think you misunderstand the honors system, it comes from honoring the civil servants.

what i dont understand is why pop stars dont qualify in their own right, they get their gongs for charity work usually, while an opera singer or uninspiring actress such as Zeta-Jones get one directly for their profession.

She has pretty much single handedly raised funds to open a childrens cancer unit at I think Swansea hospital

Musicians do occaisonally receive them for the music as opposed to charity work.

However, credible artist such as Bowie & Weller decline to accept them, and Lennon sent his MBE back
