Carlisle's Elbow

I saw Carlisle elbow Leon but unfortunately a lot of Albion fans missed it as they were following the ball. Like somebody else on the main thread, I was watching Carlisle because he'd made threatening comments to Leon a minute earlier. The ref and the linesman were disgraceful for booking Leon.
What can we do about it? Write to the fa or the Metropolitan Bill as Carlisle committed an assault that could have lead to crowd misbehaviour? If the incident was captured by Sky tv, surely there's something that can be done to prevent Leon from being suspended?

I would like to think so. Is there a precedent for this?

Why did no one pick up on that?

I saw Carlisle quite deliberately elbow Leon. I wonder if Charlie Oatway will be playing against his family's club in January ?

I saw the piss-head and then I saw Leon go down. Having seen what an ooph both the centre backs were it didnt suprise me. Thought their keeper did ok for a child actor who only made 2 films.

That was my view. Carlisle kind of flicked Leon with his arm and Leon made a meal of it in a Premiership stylee.

What about the first QPR goal though?

They were all jumping up and down like a load of ballerinas with their arms in the air - so that's why they'd had the ballet training?

'Its fun to stay at the YMCA....'

Everytime I see the surname Carlisle I think of the name 'Lush and then I think of you with your bushy bit.

A few facts..

Very few people actually saw the incident.

Initially it was thought to have been the goalkeeper - because that appeared to be who was closest to the confrontation.

However those fans who were identified Carlisle were correct.

He did elbow Leon deliberately as he got to his feet.

The incident was captured by television cameras.

Neither the referee not the linesman saw the incident. They both admitted as much.

The referee refused to say why he was booking Leon. When Leon asked him why he was getting booked he effectively told him to cut the lip or it'll be a red.

There is NO right of appeal on either the yellow card or the suspension that follows - Leon will miss the Wycombe game.

The FA could (I'm speculating) view the video and cite Clarke Carlisle for the elbow - but this would need to be brought to their attention... This still wouldn't get Leon reinstated for the Wycombe game though.

Even if it did, then Leon would almost certainly still get a nother yellow before Feb 1st - which would still lead to a suspension and possibly miss a more crucial game than Wycombe (who we should be able to beat without him).

There could be worse games for Leon to miss than Wycombe at home on Boxing Day. Sorry to jinx the fixture, but we haven't lost on Boxing Day since 1991.

Aiieee, cross them fingers, amputate that rabbit's foot, etc!

If that's what you both saw can I suggest visiting an opticians. I clearly saw Carlisle elbow Knight in the face with force.

If Carlisle "brushed" Knight why did he walk away from the incident and try to distance himself from it? If Knight dived surely Carlisle would have made it clear that Knight was play acting. He walked away because he was trying (and succeeding!) to get away with violent conduct.

I shall be writing to the FA about this because I think his behaviour was a disgrace.

the problem with knight is he is the Boy who cried wolf, dives far too much for my liking, i think he, was a big fan of Darren Freeman.

We don't get a fair deal from the refs. Probably one of the reasons believe it or not is that they don't like Withdean's facilities. That's how a lot of refs are. Last season Gary Hart was sent off against Wimbledon for making minimum contact with one of their defenders. Clarke Carlisle hit Knight considerably harder and should now be facing a 3 match ban. QPR were struggling against McPhee's pace and were fouling him and usually getting away with it.
I admit that Leon sometimes play acts and I don't approve because it works against us. However, he gets no protection from the majority of refs whose incompetence is more marked season by season. That willock Holloway has been boasting that QPR got stuck into us as revenge for the tough midweek reserve game. The ref and linesman might as well have been wearing hoops on their shirts.

I've just e-mailed the FA asking them to view the video of this incident. Doubt it will do any good but It's worth a try.
