Cargo ship slowly sinking off the Sussex coast

"A CARGO ship is sinking off the Sussex coast.

The 90 metre EMS Majestic got into trouble around 7.30pm 15 miles from Eastbourne in one of the main English Channel's busy shipping lanes.

The seven crew members are being winched off the stricken ship by two Coastguard helicopters and Eastbourne RNLI has been launched.

It is not known if there are any injuries.

The Antigua and Barbuda registered ship had left Rotterdam on Friday and was expected to reach St Malo in France on Tuesday.

It is not known what cargo she was carrying.

The ship is understood to be slowly sinking."

Describes her as "underway using engine" but only at 4 knots so I can only assume she's drifting. But still afloat enough that she's sending a transponder signal.

How did you know I once lived in sherwood road

You once mentioned that you lived there on NSC. I tend to remember that as although I was born in Eastbourne and now live there, I spent 24 years growing up as a Seafordian. And Sherwood Road. Knew a few friends from that street and an old woodwork teacher from Seaford Head. For a couple of years, I delivered mail along there as well.
