Cardiff removed safety fence

Not necessarily. To stop someone from commiting a crime there must be the fear of getting caught or some sort of reprisal. At Cardiff there has never been any sort of punishment on the club or the individuals. All they do is try and make it more difficult for them.

CCTV, banning orders and reduced capacity (i.e. the away fans get the whole stand) whould act as a deterent to stop them acting like idiots in the first place. When a club starts losing money they soon start to get their house in order.

But the fear factor does not always work when emotions are running high.

Cardiff have done a lot to improve their act, if you had been to Ninian over the last 5 years that is obvious.

However I do not believe the removal of the segregation fence is the way forward.

Put seats in or give the other end to away fans. Line of police/stewards.

You're now going to tell me that I'm contradicting myself as I was calling for terracing yesterday. This is true, however I wouldn't have mixed terracing.

But then the other end of the ground is a home end and has season tickets sold in it. Also I suspect the other end of Ninian Park is neither 10% or 2000 tickets, so would not fit in with what they have to allocate.

The actual allocation and segregation at Cardiff seemed a whole lot better than it used to be

I do not think you have come up with a solution if that end is going to stay as a stand split between home and away fans. Not being funny, you do not sound like you have been on the end of iffy games at Cardiff or other places.

"Over the last decade the supporters of Cardiff City have gained a fearsome reputation, more of their fans are subject to banning orders than any other club in England and Wales."

Most of the banning orders dished out for major aggro against Stoke, Bristol City and Leeds are now up and although some are still banned it is now only a handful!

Please tell me that's a joke.

Cardiff's next home game is Millwall. You can harp on all you like about how both clubs have cleaned their act up in the last few years but the fact remains that both still have a hardcore group of people intent on causing trouble (remember the riots after the Millwall-Birmingham game?). I pity any police or stewards attempting to seperate them if that kicks off.

People are aware there is still a fence between the sections, right?

I didn't enjoy my trips to Cardiff a few years back but it has got a lot, lot better due to the efforts made by the club, the local police and, I'm sure, the majority of decent fans at Cardiff.

Went there last year with my then 2 year old daughter - and I wouldn't do that if I thought it were at all 'dodgy'.

Went there this year and, for the first time, had a few beers in a local pub (well rugby club actually). True, I did feel a bit wary as the place filled up with as much Burberry as I've ever seen but despite being quite obviously "not from these parts" we enjoyed a few trouble free pints.

As Millwall, all the banning orders do, is generally restrict, those banned from entering the stadium. These thugs are still out to get you, as soon as you leave the station. Fancy that quiet pint in the Railway Arms, mmmmmmmmmmmmm NO.

AS far as I recall, Leeds had the whole end, the trouble started at the end of the game as Cardiff came on to the pitch to gloat.

The fencing and netting restrict but does not stop the shinny welsh shilling from being exchange by our generous Cardiff friends. No fence more money.

As said earlier, the Premiership grounds are modern, well designed and will on key matches have a minimum of away supporters. Down to 1% of away fans for games like Arsenal Chelsea, Tottenham Arsenal.

With Cardiff we are dealing with an more difficult and acute problem and lets not forget the friendly English Welsh rivalry at all their games.

Lammy is right in theory but not in practice.

Cardiff should have been penalised many times even before the Leeds game raised their profile. It was treated as a one off. We all know its a weekly thing in Cardiff which generally with over teams is now pretty rare. And we know it isn't just one or two firms in Cardiff but a sizeable proportion of the crowd are willing to get involved.

I be interested for Bluebird opinion on this matter?

I think Leeds at Cardiff is more of a problem than Millwall visiting Ninian Park. Leeds fans are as bad as, if not worse than Cardiff and I'd suggest that their hardcore is of much greater numbers than CCFC and Millwall.

But then there was worst trouble on the opening day of the season about 5 years ago when Millwall played at Ninian Park.

On the terraces!!
Cardiff was fine this year in the ground - however it is a bit of a f***ing mare when you walk out the exit and straight into the path of hundreds of CCFC "lads" - and try to get across the road is a mission!!

all part of it though - good stuff!:lolol:

Lammy. That stand is still TERRACED. There's a big dference between seperating fans on terracing than seating.

Am i being dumb or does that not look like seating behind the fence in the photo?

On the away side it it totally terraced. On the home side the front of the stand is seated and the back half is terraced. It wouldn't take much to turn the whole home side to seat to be honest.

cant believe that fence is coming down - was the only "memorabilia" of the olden days of terraces and fences!:(

i'll still go to Ninian Park as it was a good atmosphere when we played therea few weeks ago, and we only had a few hundred!!
it is a great old fashioned ground which are very few and far between these days - instead replaced byu f***ing boring ovals with no life or soul.

There speaks the man that has not been there.

The away end is in fact terraced at the back and seated at the front.

You are correct. I got it the wrong way around.

I'll have to change my profile now...

Cardiff City
reading this thread, and still wonder if some of the posters have been to ninian recently, and if they all believe word for word whats printed in the gutter press...

last season: 8 arrests at ninian, 1 for throwing a missile, 7 for being drunk, entering the ground...
