Is there a website out there where you can type in the number plate and find out the registered owner?

I only ask as my car got a bump and the other driver drove off, ive reported to old bill but want to speed up proceedings.

Think you can get it from the DVLA for a small fee but you have to fill out some forms to prove why you need the details.

If not your insurance company should be able to get the details from the DVLA. The plod probably won't be interested unless someone got injured.
