I'm getting a bit pissed off with all this Capello bashing going in the press.

2. How the f***ing hell is it embarassing for Capello that Ashley Cole decided to show the world what a small minded little prick he is by refusing to shake Capellos hand at the Community Shield

er come on, cole just didn't see him. Let's not bash the players just for the hell of it.

you are right about the press making a meal of it though

I think that Beckham as an England player is, in all probability, finished but his influence with the press and players is still big, and the list of senior players that have had issues with Cappello is growing.

The worry is that the young players will come into an unstable environment and unhappy camp. Look at the leaders - Beckham's out on his ear, Ferdinand is crocked, Terry is discredited, Rooney is petulant, Barry is out of form. The one man who can keep the thing together is Gerrard, and he did a great job against the Hungarians.

He was given the thankless task of conducting numerous pre-match interviews apologising for the World Cup fiasco but delivered a man of the match performance on Wednesday. My estimation of the man has gone up over the past week.

cappello was just being honest - Beckham is too old and unlikly to be called upon again. His mistake was being honest to the media. then this was compounded rather hamfistedly by offering a testinmonial.

lesson to learn - dont talk to the media, or when you do say f*** all.

He wanted the media away at times in the World Cup, and now he's blabbing it up to them without addressing a player who has put more into an England shirt than most.

I'm not enamoured by Capello at all - I think he's just Sven pt2., and perhaps worse because his English is quite poor. HOW the FA decide on hiring a man who has limited command of our language to instruct those who represent our country in it's premier team sport, is beyond my comprehension.

This is quite a nothing story really in a casual standard ITV interview. It was fairly clear Fabio was looking to the younger generation. The tabloids / GMTV etc have just talked it right up.

Personally I feel Capello made a rod for his own back after his inept post match interview after the Germany game.

That really was truly shocking because I do think that handling the press is part and parcel of the job.

I shudder to think how Harry Redknapp would "handle the press" as England boss. That has carnage written all over it.

Indeed, and he has his enemies as well as those who lap up every one-liner. But this all shows just how mental it's gone. In a list of the attributes you are looking for, handling the media should be well down the list behind tactics, track record, man management etc - but it seems simply to survive and not have your head called for every five minutes, it is top by a street.

I rate Redknapp as a manager. He's been brilliant for Spurs and has the ability to be a good England manager but it's a toss-up which group he'd fall out with first - the press or the players.

Either way, it's an inevitability, and that's leaving aside the possibility he could be found guilty of tax evasion.
